hi blokes, I have now put about 700mls on my new vstrom 650. I was wondering if anyone had fitted rox pivoting risers on this bike ( a 2017 model ) . if so are the brake lines etc long enough? tia. silly boy.

Can't answer your question but have another one for you.
Why do you need bar risers? Asking because I'm thinking that I need some too. Maybe not risers but 'barbacks'.
On long rides on rough surfaces I find that my left elbow starts aching. Think it's because my arms are slightly over extended, almost ramrod straight. Hence thinking about pulling the bars back a bit to get some 'kink' in the arms.
What's your issue?

I have a new 650 and have added vertical risers, but not pull back ones, simply because I got them from off here. Can't remember if they are 20 or 30 mm - I think the latter.
I found the distance to the bars uncomfortable too and the extra height has made things better. I think another 30mm back as well would be perfect and was told that it is possible without changing the cables, but have not tried as yet.

You might get 30mm back but be careful, the OE brake lines don't have much slack

I was thinking of fitting risers because I am 6ft tall and although I have a decent arm length I find I get sore shoulders and neck if I have to stretch in the slightest. I had rox pivoting risers on my BMW gs 09 which I found to be a big help. I know I can get chinese made ones for half the price but is it worth the risk? cheers, john.

Hi sillyboy,
I've done mine...http://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=12233.msg331769#msg331769

thanks for that jeff, I will see how I get on with the standard bars as they are nearer than the original gs so not quite so sore on the neck/shoulders. a 200 ml run will tell me . roll on the better days. john.

Just fitted the rox risers to mine: not tried out yet, as I changed the top brake hose for a venhill item.
Paid about £35 , 2 day delivery. Venhill stuff is great.
I could not fit these without altering the top line, people said it ould be done, but I could not manage.
My issue was I was getting back ache after stretching too far forward.
Taking bike to Faro through France this year, so need to be comfy.
