Evening chaps,
Quick canvas.
Sat at 100mph ish for 3hrs loaded all up and the bike was only just doing 30mpg which seems OK for all loaded up but wondered if anyone would expect any better?

Mine was 42mpg measured after 150 miles generally cruising at between 90-100 on the Autobahn the other day.
Quite a shock compared to the usual 55-70!

I've found the 650 thirsty beyond 60mph, let alone 100mph!
If you want to waste fuel then high speeds will do just that. Gearing at higher speeds is probably too low.......

I fitted a 16t front & find it reasonably efficient upto about 80/85 on the autobahn - giving mid to high 50s mpg.
Higher speeds and/or headwinds really hammer it beyond that.

I guess at 100mph with panniers and a pillion, it's anyone's guess.

I found that from 6,000 rpm and up, the 650 gets very thirsty. Where's the grin factor when the revs are low? For economy, keeping the revs down by changing sprockets and smooth throttle control, helps in some cases. Google http://www.gearingcommander.com// to find the best sprocket setup. Also on on the same site gear commander has a chain link to tooth hit ratio - theoretical chain / sprocket wear.

Urm... I got around 50mpg (average was around 54 on my k6 Wee) when 2up and 60kg of gear holding steady @95mph on the motorway to Glasgow from Preston last year.
30mpg does seem a little low for a 650 doing a tonne.
Even the thirsty Varadero doesn't get into the low 30s unless I'm doing 70 in third.
