Hi Gents
Sorry to ask this I've had a browse, but not 100% sure which to go for the MRA Vario screen or Givi Air-flow.
I do a 55 mile commute, mainly motorway so say 70 - 80 MPH, which is the screen for me, or is there very little to choose, because that's what it looks like - I'm 5ft 10 & its a 2005 650.

I'm 6'1 and have the vario. Had it on a klv and now a glee. Love it.

MRA...........I am 6'1" and had an MRA on my DL650 and now have one :star: on my Desert, brill bit of kit and it doesn't look like a barn door.

Thanks for the quick replies, that's 2 for the MRA, any particuliar reason? I must admit it was my first choice, until I read about the Givi. Is it purely asthetics

You have to try them both to find out, I haven't, but have the Givi Airflow. Higher screen is mounted about half way up lower screen and no buffeting at 130kph (80mph), can also ride with visor open or even up! :grin:

Hi, I got myself a 2014 DL1000 with standard screen in September, I have just replaced it with a Givi Airflow AF 3105 and it is brilliant, I can ride with visor up (if I ever needed to) at 70mph and the buffeting is minimal, also I like being able to lower the top screen for town riding. Cost me about £105 from bykebits and arrived next day free delivery.

It depends on your purposes.
I had the givi airflow on my old vstrom 650 from 2005 (same as yours) and then the mra on a vstrom 1000 2014.
The airflow is more protective, filters out more wind.
I hated it for two reasons.. too less air in summer (in Italy), and the water didn't flowed away too much from the helmet visor if riding in wet conditions..
The vstrom 1000 2014 is a different beast and you can also set the inclination of the windscreen.
If I were you now I would have bought an mra variotouring..

I have the Givi and it works well.
I didn't like the amount it strayed into the line of sight so I have lowered it onto the bottom set of mounting holes and I have the top part at minimum setting.

The Givi does it for me (and my tall passenger). I can't comment on the MRA

Have an mra on my 650, get some handling issues at "higher" speeds with it set high up, but I ride with a top box which I'm sure doesn't really help. Unless its set on the bottom setting anything over the tonne seems like a tank slapper is imminent. Might just be me though.
I'll second the issue about clearing the rain aswell not found a magical position for that like my old fjr.

I have the Givi Airflow too, best screen I have ever tried, had one on my Tiger 800xc
Being adjustable makes it good in all conditions for me, and can remove top piece in summer
Have lowered it to the lowest of the 3 positions the bike offers now it's getting colder,
And it seems to keep the wind off the handguards better, so warmer pinkies (still using summer gloves)
Agree with all the pluses others have mentioned
BTW, I am 6' 1"

When I bought my bike it came with a givi screen. I had every intention of getting rid of it and buying a MRA as it was what I had on other bikes. I decided as it had an upgraded screen it wasn't the first thing I had to do to the bike (it had no crash bars) after no more than 50 miles of short journeys, each time I tried the screen in a different position, There is no way I would now swap it for a MRA. I mean, not even if you paid me. Down sides are, if it has morning dew on it or gets misted up, it doesn't clear very well. It will be a pull over and clear it job if you want to see through it. Also at full height it seems to flap about a little. Makes no difference to wind noise on my helmet, just a little distracting. But if you move it about 1CM from full height, it's fine.

I have always found Givi products well made, so my Glee is fully Givi'd now.The screen is great and I can ride with the visor up. Passenger reports no issues and I ride 2 up most of the time.

I have a Givi airflow screen on mine, Love it. does the job perfectly!

Givi for me too I did have the Suzuki touring screen found the buffering too much even on its highest setting that's with the standard seat

Sorry to go off topic slightly,but how hard are these screens to fit?Do you need to do any drilling or anything or do they just bolt on the original fittings?

Get a Strom model specific one and they just bolt on.

I'm 5'10", 90% of the time the screen is at the lowest point and I can ride visor up to the legal limit.
