Title: Clutch actuator ball bearing?
Post by: mr_diver on April 04, 2014, 18:18:16
OK I had a look at my clutch actuator while cleaning out behind the front sprocket cover and it seems at some point I have lost one off the ball bearings.
And before anyone mentions looking on the floor it was missing one before I took it apart to clean the crud out...

Anyone know the size of the balls so I can order 4 replacements before the Scotland trip. Its been working fine for the last god knows how long with just 3 but I'd like to get it sorted.

Diver, mine fell out when I had the cam off, and I remember picking them up, cleaning them and putting them back I thinking they were small, a few (2 or 3?)mm...so that would make them 1 8th inch ? as there're limited sizes available. see HERE (http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Steel_Ball_Bearings-1018-c)

Just my guess, mind...Could you measure one with calipers ?

Pres one halfway into some putty/plasticine/blutack take out, and measure the diameter with a ruler...?

I'm old school with tools...  :fix:

if no-one knows the answer, I'll take the bloody things out and ride Jen's bike to the local bearing place.

order and deliver is easier if someone knows the size

I'm old school, too! I'd assumed you still had it dismantled so easy access to one of the bearings...that blutack method, done with a little care, would get you the diameter, close enough. :)

edit: just realised - wait for greywolf, he'll know if anybody does :thumb:
