Just passed.
« on: August 12, 2018, 09:20:28 »
Hello, at 56 I have finally learnt to ride a bike, passed last week and went on a test ride on a 650 yesterday. Still in shock as I signed on the dotted line when I only went to look. Pick it up on the 5 September. Nervous but excited and once I am confident enough my wife and I want to make new friends, explore the UK and beyond. As a total novice I have loads of questions (possibly stupid) and I am hoping you will help us on our way. Thanks, Colin

Will do. Still a bit nervous of it all to be honest. Took me a couple of weeks on my 125 to get the feel for it. Learnt on a Honda NC750 and Kawasaki Z650, the first was a big beast and the second was a bit lively in my novice hands, so I’m hoping after a week will feel more at ease with this one. Thanks.

Hello Colin,  :welcome2:. There are more stupid answers than stupid questions, so ask away.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

It can be a little daunting getting used to riding, just keep it steady and maybe look into some more advanced training.

Probably will at some point. Lovely riding with no one talking in my ear. Also pick an instructor that doesn’t smoke and coughs all the time!

I'm sure you'll be fine. I went from a 125cc to a 1300cc, 300+kgs cruiser - the V-Strom is a much more sensible choice... just take it steady until you get used to the bike  :thumb:
