Title: Bespoke Radiator & Cooler cover UPDATE to all members
Post by: cymarceng on September 12, 2009, 09:26:04
Hi all,I have had a terrific reply from you all and I should have realised that the 650 variant would also be in demand (doh). During the week I have had a lot of questions which I will try to answer in this single UPDATE post along with an honest appraisal of the parts (please see below) and a visit from `Al` (also a member). I have not seen any posts from Al yet but I anticipate that it will be a good report.

Anyway, here is an update and an answer to most of your questions:

1. The 1000cc rad and oil cooler cover WITH YOUR CLUB LOGO ON THEM (as per the photo on the recent post) are available NOW!
2. The radiator cover is priced at £38.99 + £8 p&p.
3. The oil cooler cover is priced at £15 + £3 p&p
4. Both will cost £52.99 + £9 p&p
5. I anticipate that the 650 variants will cost the same

>>>>>>>>blokes, for bespoke designs at qty`s less than many thousands this is a very good price if you did not already realise<<<<<<<<<

6. And no, I am not doing this for entirely commercial gain!
7. I anticipate that the 650 variant will be designed, prototyped and ready for testing in about 10 working days if I work all night (Andy!).
8. If anyone wishes to test the 650 variants for me and willing to travel to my factory (http://www.cymarc.co.uk (http://www.cymarc.co.uk)) they will get the covers at half price.
9. The next parts will be the chain guard and brake reservoir covers, all in hand finsihed stainless and bearing your club logo
10. And no, at this time I have no idea of the price!
11. The 1000cc gear change enhancer does fit the 650 and at some point `Al` is going to test it to let us know if it does the same on the 650 as it does on the 1000cc (see report below).
12. And yes, I will fit EVERYTHING free at the factory because I like doing it for club members.
13. the gear change enhancer will be £19.99 to club members + £3 p&p
14. All my stuff is sent by tracked and/or special delivery so that I know you blokes will get it.
15. I need a donor bike to design a top box plate extension - if anyone needs one and is willing to travel to my factory they will get it at half price if I can make one.
16. as yet I have no intention to look at sump guards but I may in the future.
17. Any postage outside of mainland Britain will, of course, cost a little more.
18. All cheques must be made payable to Cymarc Engineering - address on website.

Hope this helps, if I have missed anything then please say.

Best regards to all.

Mark.

Hi All

I am the bloke who has been doing Marks testing for him and just to give it some provinance , I have some Rider qualifications as well as mechanical expertise.

I am an I.A.M trainer,Bike safe trainer,ROSPA (GOLD), Police Advanced class 1 on road and off road, Some city and guilds quals in construction and use as well as prohibition. I have over 20 years of riding experience on a vast array of machines from off road 125 up to Kawasaki 1400. I cover about 20k a year on a bike doing a huge mixture of rural and motorway and sometimes usually once per year somewhere on the continent.

I have tried both sets of the Rad and oil covers covering two weeks of moderate to hard riding during our last heat wave and did not have any issue with overheating. I stuck in town for an hour on one of the days just to try and get it to overheat but once the fan kicked in it was fine. I am not using the covers with the bigger holes but haven't had a problem with either though if you feel there is an issue then go for the larger holes.

Not only do they offer fantastic protection that will never rust but they look great and really make your machine stand out.

I have also tried the spacer after carrying out some research which I will share for the benefit of the forum. 20 Year Suzuki DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM HOWEVER AS A CHAIN (TYPE DEPENDENT IE STANDARD, O RING) with rigorous maintenance should last between 20-40k and at that time you should also change your sprockets ( sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs ). Suzuki class this as FAIR wear and Tear therefore never bothered to try and rectify or fleet recall the machines. I personally had never noticed a problem and as this is the 3rd Suzuki I have owned, I assumed that it was a characteristic.

However once the spacer was fitted you could have knocked me off the bike with a feather,I could not believe the difference, no more clunk ,even when you engage first gear on idle there is barely a sound. All changes much smother. Tried it on Motorway, rural roads and a little bit of off road ( only about 10 miles ) also tried gear changes with and with out clutch still sweet as a nut. This will have the added effect of extending my chain and sprocket life as well as rear Tyre and also make the bike even more economical to run ( albeit negligble ).

Hope this helps

Yep, no probs - have already sent you a PM but anyway - yes for fitting, here are some good dates for me

Every Saturday in Oct apart from the 24th - I don't work at weekends but I am happy to go in for anyone who makes the effort to come - I can also do nearly all Sundays.

Working days are also OK-ish but I sometimes get distracted by having to run a manufacturing company

The only good thing for a week day is that you and other members will get to see a german laser cutting machine in action - can`t run it at the weekends, it costs far too much and needs either an operator or my manager to run it.

let me know, I am happy to work around you mate!

To all, I will arrange for Sarah (she works for me) to contact you all regarding orders for the covers during the week - you are more than welcome to arrange a day between you all to come up and I will fit all the clobber for free (as long as there are not too many of you!) at my factory.

Best regards,

Hi all, here is a copy of the `generic reply` I have sent to all members who have shown an interest so far just in case I have missed anyone out!

Thanks for all the interest, it really has been quite overwhelming!

Hi there – this is a `generic reply` to all the members who have kindly shown an interest in the covers and other stuff I am making with the club logo on it.

I am sorry that I have not been able to reply individually (in some cases I have been able to) but you should be getting this if you have indicted an interest.

Here is a price list if you do actually still want to purchase. I will need a chq made payable to Cymarc Engineering addressed to Unit 5 Bessemer Way, Scunthorpe. N. Lincs. DN15 8XE.

Please state your username so I know who it is from and don’t forget that I remain happy to fit it all free of charge for you at the factory!

I will keep everyone posted on the development of the 650 variants and all the products I am hoping to do from all your good ideas.

If anyone has ordered from overseas I will sort out the postage and let them know.

Best regards, Mark.

1.   The 1000cc rad and oil cooler cover WITH YOUR CLUB LOGO ON THEM (as per the photo on the recent post) are available NOW!
2. The radiator cover is priced at £38.99 + £8 p&p.

Just seen they're stainless - Doh :shy:

Still, are they naked?

And yes, they are `naked` save for some surface finishing by hand to give a very light brushed finish and further hand finishing to `round off` all the edges coz it looks and feels much better that the high volume stuff with the sharp edges. I did this because the one on my CB1300 was very sharp and always ripped my sponge to bits during washing.

And yes, they are still stainless.........  lol

And I really hope you are able to accept some very gentle yet respectful leg pulling!

best regards,

mark.

just to let you know that I have just fitted my spacer & yes what a difference!! For those that are not sure if it's worth it, the answer is a resounding yes! The quality of the spacer is excellent & wheres before I wasn't sure if it was me making lousy gear changes & I can now rest easy as it wasn't me!!

Thanks.

Hi blokes (and gals  :shy: ) - I have managed to get the brake and clutch reservoir covers finalised today - I am not sure on the spec yet but at this time I just wanted to advise all interested members of my progress. they are of my own design, of course, and I think they are incredibly horny - yes, I know I would say that but by now you all should have got the idea that this is not entirely for profit (my Manager, who isn't a biker, thinks I am mad offering a free fitting service - pah, he knows nothing - I am getting to do what I like the best).

Anyway, less waffle - as an idea the parts are stainless and DO NOT replace the current cover - they are simply an add on using replacement, longer of course, high tensile fasteners. If I have got it right (and if not I can expect an email from Andy  :sarc: ) you should see a couple of images.........

Please don't bombard me with questions about price - I have not even thought about it yet. they will go on evilbay but, of course, members will get them cheaper. let me know if you want to buy any when I have some idea!

And by the way, I rode a Strom a few feet today - I guess they are not too bad.............

Hi blokes

650 V-Strom GT

I popped across to sunny Scunny today and I was very impressed with all that I saw.

The oil cooler cover will make a remarkable improvement on the original and the quality and finish is excellent, the Rad cover looks very impressive too but will have to wait for the finished product for the 650. The brake res caps look great as well.

I will be having another blast across there in the next couple of weeks to purchase all that will fit!! (wifey did not hear this bit)  :notme:   :pin:

Thanks to Mark for showing me around, that laser cutter is one fantastic piece of kit.  :ty:

Title: 650cc Radiator update
Post by: cymarceng on September 26, 2009, 16:47:26
Hi All, please see the following email sent to Andy as an update........

 :GRR:

Yeah, f*cking thing, Rob came over from Hull again (I think he has put a post up?) and after 3 hours of running round like a loon all I achieved was to disappear up my own arse.

I sent him home eventually because I was starting to feel a dick – he also had 2 mates with him.

So, it has been redesigned (we could not get it to fit despite having 3 people, 1 laser, 1 CNC pressbrake and a CAD operator at my disposal – I would hate to think of the cost) so I am now after a donor bike to try the new design on, Rob says he will come over again soon but I don't know when.

The 1000cc went like a dream but the 650 one is proving an expensive pig.

All I got was nowhere and a good slagging off Rob.

Have got the chain guard done though!

I think I might post this as an update for all interested parties...........
