reintroduction
« on: August 13, 2018, 20:53:24 »
Hi,
I joined the club a couple of years ago, prior to buying a Vstrom. I had been thinking of second hand but I was then seduced by 4 years interest free credit and got  a DL1000. I should probably have got the 650 as the 1000 is rather top heavy and falls over a lot.[short legs] It is not as tall as my DR but is much harder work at low speeds. I have refitted the lower seat, which I bought with the bike, and had stopped using because of the lack of comfort. I was on the point of selling it a couple of weeks ago but have decided to fit a lowering kit and give it another go.
I rode it to Lisbon and Madrid last year and this year it has been to Athens via Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia. Then returned via a ferry from Igoumenitsa to Brindisi visiting Rome and San Marino. I have now visited every western European country, capital and State [all but two on a bike] the DL has now clocked up 17,500 miles. Here's a couple of pictures of my bike taken just after the 15,000mile service. they even washed it, it's the cleanest it has been since I bought it.
I shall probably keep it for another couple of years now, if the lowering kit helps me keep it upright. It's only ever fallen over when it is stationary, or being paddled around, but it still causes cosmetic damage which costs money to rectify.
That's enough rambling for now OITNB beckons.
Mart

Sounds like you've had a good run on it & the lowering kit should help you do many more miles  :thumb:

Hoping the lowering kit works.
