Ratmobile conversion
« on: March 22, 2024, 16:24:04 »
On bit of a whim, I decided to have the Ratmobile (Vivaro/Renault Trafic SWB van) professionally converted to a camper van.

I need it completed by the end of April (end of financial year), so the company doing the work are fitting it in where they can between now and the end of April. The first job was to take a very large tin opener to the roof and fit a pop top.

Very nice Sir. You chose a good time to convert because (as you know) campers went up massively in price just after covid.   :thumb:

If you need anything to kit it out (EHU cables, collapsible water stuff, pots, pans and various other items) and you’re passing Weston-super-Mare, I’ve got plenty of stuff in my cellar left after I sold over van. 👍

Phil is one of the reasons I love this site, he didn't say free though. You might want to give him a bottle of his favourite tipple and be given a cup of tea if you're riding.   :thumb:

Phil....... Respect.  :thumb:

Fat Rat, I'm getting inpatient waiting to see the van finished  :). I am inspired to do the same but haven't the skill.

Some of the stuff is free to a good home.😉

I’ve got a brand new Dometic sink and hob I want to sell though. I tried selling it on a van site for a third of its value (£100), but didn’t even get an enquiry.🤷‍♂️

It’s probably because I decline posting anything.

Phil. It might be a good idea to invite potential buyer's or poor people  :icon_wink: to arrange a courier to call at your house, or wherever to still purchase, you only have to stand at the door and hand over a package. Stll, you are a very kind man and there's a place waiting for you up there and maybe the bike of your dreams and because it's a dream and not a nightmare, it will never need petrol, servicing tax insurance and more nonsense, it will be yours forever.

That "Make Love Not War" generation (just before my time and I joined the army age 17 ) should become now, again. I wish I had been born a few years earlier and enjoyed the Mods and Rockers era. I am a biker and don't ride scooters. I do like the Mods music though and have still got Ben Sherman in my locker.

I would be a biker but still have a cup of tea with a lad on a scooter. Enjoy the Mods and the Rockers and stay neutral, lets face it we are both dogging potholes, lunatics, weather and poor driving by others. We are the same.  :thumb:

Where did that come from? I must start putting more water in my tipple (tea), sorry for the ramble.  :thumb:

The Ratmobile is at AB Camper Conversions today and they didn't waste any time getting the tin opener out ready for some windows. Also they started on the insulation and internal wiring.

It is coming along nicely. The seats are at the upholsterers (the two front seats being upholstered to match the Rock n Roll bed).

It should be done by the weekend...

How many shades of gray? I thought the pics were in b&w till I spotted the seat belt button.
Looks very well done though. Dead posh.
