Got fecking annoyed at it!!!

Stripped some holan pannier racks and shot them with satin black paint a while back, which has peeled off into a lovely rusted mess! Cue me trying to bodge a quick coverup jobby before ST3 only to find I have a binding rear brake!

Not a happy teddy at all!!!

Tried to fit flush fit front flashers ( lotta Fs there, could have added a couple more as well !!) and have run up against a problem removing the old. Does this count?

Anything goes, doesn't even have to be today that you're telling us about. Just a bit of a thread to get people talking :thumb:

Careful not to over tighten the bolts on the fork brace, mine felt like it would be easy to do so.

Today I wheeled my V-Strom DL1000 outta garage and rode 90 miles in nice dry/sunny weather, but quite chilly alright! Heated grips on all day, toasty hands....

Left Alloa (central Scotland), rode to Doune, then onwards to Lochearnhead, took a right towards Creiff (wOw, great twisty roads for a bit of fast riding, great), then into Auchterarder, stopped off for a short comfort break and coffee at my work, then over Glendevon Hills and home, superb stuff, really enjoyable.

Just spent around half an hour wiping bike down with my usual 'WD40' spray and a cloth, remove a little dry salt from roads, sitting pretty for the next blast! Going to order a 'TRE' unit from eBay later tonight and give it a whirl, only £26 (include post etc).

God I love the DL1000's GRUNTY/TORQUEY delivery, fab-u-lous! Such FUN!!!!!

today I removed the metal rack behind the seat, removed the givi top box plate and replaced it, but about half an inch further back. I had to drill out a little hole for one mounting plate, but replaced it all together easy enough. did this ready to recieve a top box

On Saturday I started servicing the bike, first time I've taken it apart.  Had fun getting the front plug out and back in.  I'm surprised at the number of fasteners needed to be removed to service the bike, also the need to change the oild every 3,500 miles is a bit of a shock for an ex BMW owner used to a dry clutch and oil just for the engine.  I suppose this was offset by the need for bevel and gearbox oil changes...

Any advice on the most cost effective good coolant to use?

Hi

Just tried on the Trax top box I won on Ebay last week. Fits a treat, looks great and was 1/2 the price of a new one :)

In process of removing the f***ing Datatool alarm. Been threatening to since I've had the bike. Wires everywhere! Will cremate it on the bonfire once removed. Also fitting new front tyre, braided front brake hoses and giving the bike a full service including valve shims. Will be using an old Honda XL125 bought for green laning until all the work is done. Wife thinks I've moved out!!

Fitted tutoro chain oiler seemed straight forard enough, took her out for a spin, back heel covered in oil and chain dry as a bone. Oh well back to the drawing board

today I had a nice spin around anglesey after fitting my flick front mudguard extender. Very easy to fit, not using screws like the pyramid one but small plastic pop rivet things. They even supply a drill bit the right size for the holes needed. I ordered the black gloss so looks nice too. Well pleased  :thumb:

yesterday had what was left of the garage doors replaced with a new shiny up & over, so now Suzi and Bestey have a warm, dry and secure home.
Finished fitting the second ground anchor.
started wiring up my 12v lighting system for the garage, with solar charger, car batt and old caravan lights.
(Batt is naffed) but it will have the facility to charge the bikes when I get it sorted.

Fitted a Madstad to Suzi. will get tested on the way to work in the morning. looks promising.

Tested the stability at 120 (speedo)....  won't be doing that again.... "light" doesn't start to describe it - it's effectively a "controlled" tank slapper... but not very....

fitted my new but used givi v46 today. bought off ebay. it has a little scrape on the right side where it looks like the previous owner had been on his side. not too big or noticble really. and since it cost one third the brand new price in really pleased. suits the strom well
