New rear tyre - how much?
« on: July 27, 2009, 14:26:23 »
I've now done 8,000 miles on my original tyres - front looks fine, but rear is squared-off, with approx 1.5mm tread in the centre. I don't really want the expense of replacing both (I've had the BT021 / 020 combination highly recommended), so was going to do the rear tyre now with another Trailwing and then perhaps look at replacing front and rear, in another 8,000 miles.

My local dealer has quoted £140 to fit a new Trailwing on the back.

Firstly - do you think that my reasoning is sound?
Secondly - is that a fair price?

Cheers and thanks in advance,
Dave

I usually get Battlewings on the bike ... dealer charges me £110 all in ... so you're in the right ballpark I reckon.
Why waste time learning when ignorance is instantaneous?

Thanks for the replies chaps - 500 motorway miles this week has completely knackered the rear tyre now and a good look at the front made me think that they both need changing. I think I'll go for the BT021 / BT020 combination. Be interested to see the cost Monkey, cheers.

hi m8 , 021 are the replacement for the 020 , will see if their still on sale as their fazeing some of the sizes out,,update,,, well been on to hole saler and  ###  if wanting a road tyre ie 020 in the 150 size its mental price a 021 front and an 020 rear will be £200,, bridgestone is going to faze out 020 150 rear tyres as its not a comon tyre used anymore (no sports bikes use them)  I've asked for a list of makers that are still makeing all 150 size rear tyres and prices and will list it when it turns up

Just had a rear replaced like for like with a trailwing (due to finding a screw in original!)... £105 ride in ride out. Only problem, checked new tyre 2 days later to find another screw in it....... and one in the car! don't think the neighbours appreciate me going to work at 4.30am!

I had a like for like Trailwing fitted last week £142.60 at 21st Moto in Swanley. Slightly OTT maybe but they are a Honda Dealer but the service is always excellent in my experience.
