I really like riding my Harley for about and hour and then my old hips start to ache. After another twenty minutes they really hurt and will do for a day or so. I test rode a Triumph T120 and what??? Easy to ride and low enough seat for me to get on and off. Hmmmmm I'm thinking about it.
-
Don't do it ..... It's a triumph .. :icon_no:
-
I second Kwackboy.
Their reliability is crap, dealer support is no existent and it's all made in China these days.
-
Are they that bad chaps? You blokes should know being in the "trade".
-
Hmmm!
I have been looking for a bike that I CAN get on and off hopefully, without falling over. My old legs etc. etc. I do like the Kawasaki 900RS but at 830mm it is 50mm taller than the T120. although the RS does have a low seat option that still may not be enough. Maybe if I could get 2 inch thick soles stuck on my boots eh! yeah!..... maybe .......
I have test rode the Triumph and watched the you tube review regarding crap suspension front and rear, and wiring joints held together by poor quality sticky tape. The rims and spokes that rot when wet and other such stuff. Strange handling that felt as if the headraces are too tight or the rear end was too lose. I am still thinking
-
May I throw a different 'bike into the mix, too late.
Ducati Scrambler, nice and narrow with a low seat option. :)
-
OK I'll take it that the Triumph was not the answer to my problems.
So then what are we left with?
Ducati scrambler may have been an interesting choice but the Brocket has chosen. A bike I can get on and off and ride and get my feet on the floor. Not too heavy and runs a bit like a strom.
-
I bet that sounds wicked and it's very shiny. I bet you're happy.

I was about to suggest taking a look at one of those. Have fun.
-
Salesman says "one lady owner with belly pan, crash bungs and a fancy exhaust"
What about the bike? :shy:
"Oh!", he says "2000 dry miles"
Well that's good, the saddle won't need cleaning.
And a very similar blue to my Doblo which, I hope, will be towing it to the Wales meet.
-
@TLP - well stack me!! I thought I was back in 1969 with some San Fransisco flower power hippie assaulting my poor old lugs.
-
Nice bike Brockett :thumb: that's what I was looking at before I got my Wee.
-
@Brocket take a look at this for specs.

:text-goodpost:

And after all that, today, I have cancelled the order for the Gladius :shy: and have instead elected to buy a new SV. Photo to follow when I take delivery in July.
-
Nice one Brocket you will love it, is it the X or Naked Model? :thumb:
-
@DLste: Naked :shy:. And yes it is all your fault.
-
lol lol If you need info and parts let me know screen, hugger, belly pan ect :thumb:
-
A screen a little bigger than the expensive postage stamp that Suzuki sell ??
-
Just watched a YouTube video comparing both the naked and the X. The overriding opinion is they are a lot of fun and "zippy". Bungle and George didn't get a look in on this vid, so I suppose it's not all bad! Sadly it looks like I'm too tall to try one out as I really like the sound of the Naked.
-
You could try 'Naked' but the main problem you will have is in keeping everybody else's nose out of your business. eh!
-
@Brocket I have this one a great screen and good fixings does not flap about and keeps the crud of you.

-
:thumb: for the screen. just enough to keep off the worst without causing buffeting.
Any views on the hand guards?
-
good choice Brocket I had a Gladius before I bought the V-strom I liked the Gladius but it had a few failings imho. Firstly the seat was dreadfull no padding and it was angled far to much towards the tank had to buy the high seat option to make the bike useable. Second the tank was to small and it didn't have a fuel gauge always wondering how much fuel you had left. Thirdly the rear shock was abysmal had to replace it with a GSXR600 rear shock to make the bike useable, still got the shock if anyone needs one. Fourth the handling was very twitchy great for trackdays but less so for the road. I rode the new SV650 at Suzuki test days last year and found all my gripes about the Gladius had been fixed, loved the bike it was a hoot, the seat still has bugger all padding but did not slide you into the tank all the time so no more crushed nuts. I think you have definitely made the right choice they are more lively than a V-strom less weight and more horsepower, hope you enjoy it.
-
@vstroppy :thumb: thanks for the words of experience and wisdom confirming the most one-Brockett like good decision.
-
Can't make my mind up about the hand guards yet, may try them for winter riding, they look nice you will also need a mudguard extender or the rad will get damaged I put a rad guard on as well.

Thanks DLste. ( my wallet , oh! my poor wallet)
Previous post - I wrote U N -Brockett like, but it seems to want to change it to one-Brockett

Apologies for breaking into to traitors corner, I'm sure alarms are sounding somewhere.
Had a new sv as a courtesy bike when they did the cam recall on my strom.
I'm 6ft2 and fitted it OK. didn't notice much wind blast compared to the strom, though only took it up to 5000rpm (70mph) as it had 400miles on the clock.
Fun handling and grunty engine like the strom but same power is there 1000rpm lower.
Right, time to breakout of here now, hopefully the drugged meat I threw at the security dogs on the way in has done the job and I make it back to stromland OK.... :thumb:
-
Darkstrom I hope you don't feel too dirty after visiting the dark place. Admit it, it thrilled you didn't it? :stirpot:
-
@Dark-Strom remember to wash your hands before handling food...! Also I've never heard of a courtesy bike being treated with courtesy before. Most people thrash them like the proverbial ginger stepson. Well done, your demonstration of mechanical sympathy should be rewarded. Have a "like" .
