had a look at a new v strom today and noticed 2 wires/spring in the central exhaurst what is this for.

Think it's the lambda sensor? For emissions.I had a test ride on the thou last week... Nice and smooth, light clutch pulled well. The pannier s and centre stand were an extra 1200 quid , so I'll leave it for now.Also I didn't think it was worth 9grand more than my 04 wee with all the extras on.

Exhaust butterfly thingy. Guessing something similar to exup-type valve for exhaust "tuning" at different revs.

Somebody will tell me what it's really for, I'm sure. But yes, you can bet a pipe with one of "them" in will cost more than one without.

It's to improve low end torque.  It's closed, almost at tick over an opens up until it's fully open by 3000 rpm, that is unless it sticks like mine and causes a misfire!  It's bloody ugly too.
If you go for aftermarket you can get panniers and a stand for half that price.

Same/similar to that fitted to the GSXR600. My brother has one and had a serious flat spot which took ages to sort out.
