Countdown (not the programme on telly)

The dealer called today saying my 880RE has arrived.   :happydance:  They're waiting on one of the accessories to come in (knuckle guards, centre stand or Oxford grips - I didn't ask which) before building and PDI'ing, so I've booked Thursday and Friday off next week to go and get it. Just got to hope the forecast improves, as it's pants right now. Friday or even Saturday are my backups just in case it is coming down stair rods.

It is going to be a long week!

Looking forward to reading your first impressions on the new bike. I was talking to feller up at Rothbury last week with an RE and he was full of praise for it. He reckons it was almost a torquey as his 1200GS in real-world situations, nearly as comfortable and a lot more fun to ride. It will hopefully be more reliable too. I don't doubt the reliability bit...

Trying to keep busy in the garden, so I don't sit staring at the weather forecast for Thursday, willing it to improve.

Popped into my local Suzuki dealer this week, they have a DE and a couple of RE's in stock, in the showroom.

They all look very nice, and shiny, and brand new and such.

Just sayin.

The older I get, the better I was.

Sad day.  Took the accessories off my T100 that are not part of the PX. I keep feeling a bit sorry for Hugh as I'm only changing the bike 'cos I feel like it, but then I remember I'm getting a new toy

The waiting is torture! I am consoling myself by trawling the interweb for aux light options and fully fitted front/rear dashcams.  Current thought is SW Motech for the former (under-beak bracket as I'm not planning on fitting bars) and Innov for the latter.

The weather forecast is looking better now, thankfully  :lala:.  Will dig out the Owners Folder my T100 came with tonight and sort out the pack ready to hand over on the big day. Handbook, stamped service list, V5, MoT, Datatag certificate, and all that.

Hi

Glad to hear that you are about to become another 800RE owner.

I am just back from a week in Scotland on mine and now have a total of 3k miles on it.

The bike got filthy on the first day in the rain going up, but the rest of the week was sunny and warm, which was a bit of a shocker!

The bike is bloody good and started to really loosen up on the way home, and would pull hard in any gear you asked of it.
Also, as a slight downside the vibration is a little more than my old 650, but nothing that detracted from the total enjoyment of the machine.

Also I would like to state that the tyres which came with the bike (Dunlop 614's) were quite a revelation as there was no slides/apprehension whatever the weather, and with that the handling was superb.

The only downer was the rear shock for me, as it was harsh and on its best setting for me the damping was non existant, but others will be OK, as I am too fat!
I have already put feelers out to Wilburs and Nitron for a replacement, but they have nothing as yet, and if anyone knows of other manufacturers who do one, I would be interested.

That's enough from me.

Cheers
