All packed....I love packing.
« on: April 20, 2017, 15:46:57 »
We are away for a month and it always staggers me how much you can fit in these bloody panniers.
In pannier one:
2 x folding seats. 1 x wash kit. 3 x gas canisters. 2 x large towels. 3 x full dried meals. 2 x rechargeable (via usb) torches 2 x portable battery packs (all charged via the bike). Toilet roll, wet wipes, insect repellent, washing line, washing liquid, billy cans, spare cooker, eating utensils. First aid kit. And loads and loads of coffee!

In pannier two:
1 x Vango Banshee 300 tent. 2 x sleeping bags. 2 x inflatable pillows. 2 x Static Vee sleeping mats. 1 x small ground sheet/sun shade.
That leaves the top box for a few clothes and room to spare. When I first met our lass I told her, "If you ever need to put luggage in the hold of a plane or can't fit all your clothes on the bike we might as well finish now pet". She has never let me down. she is as they say, "A bloody good one!"

The other cooker fits inside the billy can....along with more coffee! They are the standard plastic panniers that came with the bike.

Great packing ..  :thumb:.
I won't list all my gear (which is alot..!) but I use the Vee OEM panniers for our clothes which generally can hold at least 5 changes before washing is needed,  the OEM top box for our camping gear (we have everything needed, including a washing line) , the tent is strapped on top with an adventure tarp for extra shade if needed, we even have a footprint sheet and a carpet for the inside of our outwell earth 4 tent.
We have waterproof 10 litre bags that strap to the crash bars for extra luxeries like two camping chairs and 3 thermal OEX inflatable beds , the third is a spare .! finally two ortlieb bags strapped on top of our panniers that carry our OEX  4 season sleeping bags and odd other stuff that's needed . Some of our electricals include hair straighteners, hair dryer and a travel iron ..!! .
We are also off travelling on our Vee for nearly a month riding around the entire coast of Italy in May.. looking forward to.it ..  :dl_hyperhysteria:.

lol...I even persuaded our lass she looks even lovelier with short hair so she didn't need to worry about a hair drier when we go on holiday. "Nahh, too much weight" is what I say when she tries to sneak a bit extra on the bike. I hope she never sees your post or she will chop something off me to save weight! Have a great time my mate, we are passing Venice on our way to Slovenia.

Slovenia ... great place.  :thumb:
Look up motolux motorbike camping . It's a small secluded bikers only campsite that's not far from BraslovĨe in the Savinja valley. Very friendly owner that welcomed us with free beer and when we left didn't want to charge us .. :icon_exclaim:. , we forced him to take our money ..  :icon_batterup:.

Ah we aren't heading that way. We are going over to Cres Island in Croatia for a bit then up into the Triglavski park and whatnot. Probably do the East next year on the way to Romania....do like the idea of free beer though.

I overpacked one of the Suzuki side panniers and broke the lock/spring mechanism. Luckily due to their basic design three cross head screws and the mechanism can be reset and realigned....works good as new and lesson learnt with wedging stuff in.

Never use mine without one of those suitcase straps round it. Learnt my lesson just outside of Bilbao. Sigh.
