« on: July 24, 2011, 12:53:36 »
As above , going to try it with the standard screen , any tips on the best position ? I'm 5'11" , bikes fitted with mirror extenders ..
Will the screen go higher with the Madstad ?

It will go higher and will also lean back quite a way. I would try to set the Madstad up the same as the stock screen as regards angle and height, the spend a few hoursgoing a bit, stopping, adjusting a bit, going more, etc. You may find that the best position is higher and angled back quite a bit.

The mirror extenders will allow you to angle the screen back more than is possible without them..

Hope this helps.

Stick the bracket in the highest position (the undocumented one) and set the screen high up, but below your eye line and tilted so that's it's about in the middle of the tilt range. I'm 5'11 as well, I sit higher as I have gel seat, but only 12 stone so not much Donkey to lift me up. That's a good starting point, after that you can play around with it. If you have the height so that you are happy it's not too high then it's just a bit of tilting to get it perfect. Don't tighten the knobs too much, the rubber washers perish easier if you do.

The 'best' is going to be what you like best. I put it on the highest documented position first, but that was too low when it was moved all the way up in the slides. I then moved it to the higher, undocumented, position and it was fine for me when it's slid all the way up. Now I just play with the tilt, have it nicely figured out and know how to get it back to the 'motorway riding' position after setting it down for slow riding. Start anywhere, you'll probably move it around a few times as you figure out what works for you.

Yep, using the standard screen in the summer and a Givi barn door in the winter. I also have a little tinted sports screen for when I feel like it.

Well been out for a few hrs today and with the Madstad its a lot better . Got it set to the highest possible position and tilted back about 20mm . Had a mess about with it while out but this position seems the best , hardly any buffeting at all . Fantastic .
Think ill change the mirrors next , just to see if I can get it perfect ...

How much do these brackets cost? Might be on of the first things I get for the wee, along with heated grips!
