Thanks Hondaman, you saved me the trouble. ( Of course the objectors could boost the Chinese economy by buying everything from Shanghai through Ebay, and have it sent in a grey plastic bag with "gift"written on it. )
Back on topic,  removed left hand heated grip and cleaned the glue out - now to find some glue that doesn't let go when it gets hot !

muff time, hands was too cold in Friday.

Still can't get my heated gloves from Oxford working properly, they seem to shut off at 14v, so I'm going to try a 12v regulator when the components arrive.

I understand you have to pay the tax when you import something but it just seems the Post Office charging £12.50 to collect that and pass it on to the tax authority is a bit excessive.

Nothing with the bike today (it's below freezing here), but I did something quite satisfactory with my helmet.

I had a hell of a time changing visors at the weekend. Took it gingerly to bits and realised a piece of the latching mechanism was broken.  :bawl:

After a load of research - panicking that I was going to have to shell out £400+ to replace the whole thing - I discovered that the bit in question is called a "base plate", it was easily replaced, and I was able to buy a pair of new ones for £6.99!

Job done. Thank god for that.  :obscene-drinkingchug:

p.s. I'm sure many of you would have known all this already.  :shy:

I had a free afternoon so had a ride around the Peaks. Not entirely sure where I went, but I remember Hathersage, Grindleford, Eyam, Buxton, then I found myself on the Cat & Fiddle road... There was fog, side winds and heavy rain so I literally crawled around and was seriously scared at some points.

That aside it was a great afternoon in some beautiful countryside. I'm really starting to enjoy the Glee, I used to do rides like this on the GSX-R and used to be in agony after about an hour, but I'd been out for 4 hours before I started to get a slightly achey bum. Shame the rubbish weather is coming, I wish I'd sold the gixxer years ago. Roll on summer

I've only ridden the "Cat & Fiddle" once and it was just as horrible as you have seen today.

Never again! On the plus side, my 10 year old IXS jacket and new trousers and boots all proved waterproof in the rain

They took quite a bit of fiddling and a few cuts with a Stanley knife to get them on like that.

Got the handlebar muffs off the garage shelf and back onto the bike. Last week was a bit chilly, the combination of hand guards, muffs and heated grips works a treat.

Took off the muffs, too warm again.

This is how I modded them to fit under the guards but leave the switch gear accessible without been a struggle.

Rode it to the NEC Bike Show :dl_bike:

Wet or what ###. Number of tossers on the motorway with no lights on -  :icon_exclaim:

But, great gear has been invested in over the years so toasty dry.

The bike performed faultlessly despite it hammering down with rain. Interesting journey!

Rode back from work in London to Cambridge in the rain and most of the way the speedo read 0... then 92... then 6 and then 33... all over the place.    I guess it must be water so will spray WD40 in the relevant places and see if this helps and clean the sensor if I can find out where it is :-)

It's more likely to be the sensor than the Speedo I'd have thought
Good luck  :fix:
