Keeping one foot in
« on: April 15, 2017, 18:26:55 »
I took the Glee for its 600 mile service today and it seemed very practical to book a test ride on something just to kill some time  :shy:

When I went to see the Africa Twin at the NEC I was really disappointed, the glossy red paint finish looked (to me) cheap and nasty so I walked on by. Then I saw the Tricolour version and was really taken with it. So, today, test ride booked (on a Tricolour version) and I loved it, then came the easy job of just signing on the dotted line.

Then I saw the matte black one, fully loaded  :icon_drool5:
I was still torn but the £2000  I negotiated off of the ticket price made the decision for me.

Good decission. I've been perving on these in the adventure bike rider mag as they are always in there.  Not seen one in the flesh yet.  Always behind the times down here in the sticks lol.

Will this be with you by the alrite me ansum tour?

That'll be a really nice bike to ride I reckon. I arranged a test ride on one but cancelled it when I fell for a new Tiger 800 instead. I'll never know how good it might have been but it really is a looker.

No my minds made up... keeping the Glee and part ex'ing the Street Twin for a new Tiger 800. Standard features on the Triumph are amazing and I quite fancy having a Twin and a Triple this time.

Did you get the one with the fancy pants gearbox?

My mate has just pulled the trigger on a new AT. He's currently got an old Transalp (which will be for sale soon if anyone is interested).
He gets his in just over a week and we've got a trip planned (to Wales) first weekend in May so I'll get to see it then.

I am too old to not have a clutch lever  :old: The DCT does get rave reviews though.

I rode the DCT, I said to the salesman  "I'll do you a favour and ride it, but a bike needs a clutch and gears, I WON'T be buying it!"

Guess what... 500 metres (YES METRES) I was converted!!! Its brilliant and so easy to ride.
Apparantly its brill off-road too, but I didn't have the guts to take a test ride with £1000 excess off road.

I'm trying the Explorer next week (not too sure I want another chain to clean and adjust!!)

PS The ström will stay as the £2k offer is just daft!!!
