2014 Engine / Accessory Bars
« on: March 18, 2014, 16:22:37 »
I'm after a set of engine bars for a new DL650.

I ordered them a month ago from dealer, Suzuki back order now saying May delivery.

Anyone got a set for sale?

If they are Suzuki ones you have ordered. cancel them!. They can suffer from harmonic resonance at a certain RPM on Some (not all) bikes which is bloody annoying for those of us it HAS affected.  Get some SW Motech or Givi ones. just my 2 penneth.

+1. Mine cracked. Replaced under warranty but no guarantee they won't do it again...

Spoke to the dealer today, ordered the engine bars in February.

They are saying that Suzuki can't supply them, they don't conform to British Type Approval.

Anyone else heard this? :wtf:

Yes I asked for them but was told all they had were being recalled. Happy with the rng bungs I decided on instead. Less obtrusive and obvious although they are not as adventurey. (That's a word, right?)

That's interesting - My Son has a late 2013 DL650 Adventure that came fitted with the bars, wonder if they are recalled or modified?

HEED bars get a lot of praise around these parts, they're the ones I'm looking at. Need something to mount my Kirky lights onto. :)

I bought Heed to replace my Suzuki ones (harmonic vibration) but haven't swapped them over yet. I bought them on eBay from Heed's eBay shop and had reservations given that they were shipping from Poland but they arrived quite quickly.

I emailed Suzuki about the recall issue to check mine were OK and received the following:

"Having checked with the relevant department internally, the accessory bar is compatible with your DL650AL2. We can confirm that there are no safety concerns with this part, they have been removed from sale awaiting for a minor technical upgrade."

It will be interesting to see what the minor technical upgrade will be?

Make them more sturdy and fit properly. The new 1000 bars are in a different league.

Which would hopefully mean that the 4700rpm harmonic buzz would be reduced / eliminated.

However with a 16T front sprocket the buzz is at about 65mph so is another indicator of if I'm over the limit in a 60mph area.  :)

Sorry to the OP for going off topic, but it has bumped up your thread  :shy:  I think if I was to get the bars now, I'b be looking at the latest Givi ones.

If your Glee suffers from the dreaded Suzuki Bar vibration ring Suzuki customer services and tell them you are having issues. They won't take the bars back or swap them as there are no replacements available currently. They might however look after you another way. They did with me.
p.s if any one wants my bars I'll sell them for £500.00 as they are hard to obtain. lol

I have a pair of Heed bars on my 2007 V-Strom. These do not have any vibration problems at any speed, are good strong quality, supplied with full fitting kit and good instruction. I would recommend these bars to anybody with a V-Strom. I have looked on the Heed site and they do make a set for the 2014 V-Strom.

I just fitted the Givi (TN532?) Bars. Very nice, larger diameter, more substantial than the Suzuki ones.

Straight forward to fit but they don't fit with the genuine Suzuki (plastic) belly pan.  :)

I see a few European outlets are offering a genuine Suzuki Accessory bar - 4250897643965 for 2014 DL650

Is this the replacement for the old style bars ?

Can't find any being offered by UK retailers.

Dealer has exchanged my original bars under warranty / recall.

The new model bars (with separate cross-bar) seem to have solved the problem  :)
