As per the title, up to around 50 quid I reckon. Already got a thatchem alarm and decent chain so this is just another deterrent.

Xena XX15 (https://www.xenasecurity.com/xx15-disc-lock-alarm/) here. It's been 100% successful for me in that I've never had my bike nicked with it on! :icon_wink: Bought it about 18 months ago; I think it came well-recommended at the time. Might be a bit above your price range though?

don't know too much about the locks, except, I had one of those Oxford mini U-lock types, but when the tw@t burgled my garage he managed to smash it off with my sledgehammer pretty easily (note to self.. don’t leave sledgehammers lying around).
One thing I would add is make sure you attach one of those reminder leash things to it, otherwise you will most likely try to ride off with it in place and fall on your @r$€..

Yeah definitely get a reminder cable. I reversed my old bike out and smashed the mudguard, could've been worse but still.

Oxford locks have a really bad rep; made of cheese or something. Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.
I don't use a reminder cable, because I use my disk lock on the rear wheel, and there are apparently no springy cables available which are long enough to reach the handlebar. Why do I put the lock on the back wheel? Ask yourself how easy it would be for two blokes to lift up the locked front of your bike by its handlebars, and wheel it into a van. Now picture the same scenario with the rear end of the bike locked - not impossible to lift but it's a whole different ballgame and a bit of a no-brainer to lock the back wheel as far as I'm concerned. Both wheels even better obviously.
A far better solution to the reminder problem (which believe me, would definitely be a problem for me!) is a tip I picked up I think on this forum but maybe another one: I keep a short length of rubber tubing pushed over the end of the disklock key, which I have to remove in order to close the lock. I then shove the tube over the blade of my bike's ignition key instead. Then when I come back to the bike later, it's impossible to insert the key into the ignition until I've taken the reverse steps to unlock the back wheel. Never failed me yet!

FFB+1 for rear wheel disc lock. I wrap the reminder over the saddle and onto the gear lever or brake lever depending on which side the disc is located.

Nowadays the scum bags cut through the actual disc, so probably better buying 3 or 4 cheaper/medium priced ones as opposed to one dear one, as it be harder for them to nick.

I use an Oxford Omega (c£40) but no idea if it's any good. Bought at Motorcycle Live years ago (for about £15). Thatcham approved. I always fit it on the nearside disk (with the handlebars turned to the nearside) to make it hard to access by B. Burglar. Unfortunately, I declared it to my insurance company, so they insist it's used all the time or they halve the payment or something like that.

Yeah I found out about that too, fortunately not that hard way - at renewal I realised that declaring my disklock made no more than a few quid different to the premium (no, I don't live in central London!) so although basically I do always use my lock, I really didn't like the stress of knowing that I always had to do so come what may, and it wasn't worth the aggro. It's a similar story with the whole 'keeping it in a locked garage (at night)'; what about getting the bike nicked off the drive while it's drying off after a wash? An argument with the insurers will ensue, to say the least. Definitely worth considering the difference in premium by deliberately not declaring this stuff!

I never declare any thing other than the HISS on the Vara and Suzuki Imobiliser on the GSX.
Everything is locked and bolted to the floor and each other and disk locks. (Apart from the XJ600n as I don't care and they can take that one and leave the rest)
But just in case I forget once and it gets nicked. Those slimey insurance companies will use it to get out of a claim.
So as far as they are concerned my bikes are in a locked garage with no other security.

+1 I don't want to be forced to use my disc lock if I park at Squires Café or when popping in to pay for petrol etc.
I have a Krall disc lock which is pretty easy to use and fits nicely under the seat of the Glee.

I use an alarmed disc lock , its just a bit of added security knowing its going to make a noise if moved

The Oxford Quartz disc lock is on offer at the moment from M&P.
Very heavy duty lock for not a lot of money.

Saw this cheap padlock with alarm in our local ‘bargains’ store today but think Rolson widely available. Wouldn’t use as sole security but for the price may be worth thinking about as additional security to make a noise when the little B’s wouldn’t Be expecting it.

Anyone use an Oxford boss alarm disc lock? Want to know will it fit OK (14 Veek ) and would you recommend. My bike will have to live outside the next month r so but it will be in the garden outside the window.. Just thought the alarm would help.
