I've had no issues posting pictures on here until recently, it now won't post pictures it just leaves me with a blank screen after posting. The pictures are from the same source I've always used (Samsung s7)
-
It does the same to me too (S8+)...
-
Still blank just checked

.jpg from S8 plus

I see the link to Imgur, is that what you mean? Or are you selecting a .jpg using the attachment option?
-
No only used Imgur as couldn't get the site to load them. Never had a problem posting pictures from my phone until I tried this week
-
Earlier picture's to try
-
I've been having the same issues. I thought it was the file size so I've been reducing them using an app, but it's bit and miss if they upload too.
-
My post should have two pictures but only ones taken earlier this year loaded, I checked the details and the only difference is the iso speed is 50 on the early one and 200 on the new one but I didn't change it
-
The site will resize images as they are uploaded.
I will have a look when I am home later.
-
Thanks :thumb:
-
Just tried to post a pic I took today and it failed.

When I tried to upload the three images above together, I received a timeout error.
-
Trying all three
-
Was the jpg conversion deliberate on the last 3? Or does the forum software try to convert multiple image types?
-
It looks like it converts all formats to .jpg
-
I have switched off the converter.

-
Uploading a .png seems to be unreliable so I have removed it from the acceptable format list.
Let's see if removing the .jpg converter makes life better. Let me know :thumb:

Tried again with .jpg picture taken with my phone and get the same blank screen. The one I tried last night was resized to half and uploaded OK, the ones taken last year upload fine without conversion but the ones taken recently with the same phone won't load.
-
Trying a full fat picture...

picture upload from pc
-
Hmmm I just tried to upload a pic I just took and got a timeout error. I took a screenshot of that, but it's a png file and won't upload...
-
Both pics reduced to SVGA and screenshot converted to jpeg.
-
Not sure what's been asked here but an old one from the PC ........
-
Last one was from camera this one from phone....but downloaded to PC & then to here.
-
Both uploaded within seconds.... both jpeg. ........ hope it might help?????
-
I think it's size. The originals of
mine were 4.73MB, the resized version was 53KB
-
The forum will resize them to that sort of size.
-
From my PC
A picture my first wee in 2012.
I click on "Attach" - "choose file" - double click on the selected photo file -
No "preview" of the picture can be seen; just this text.
I select post and .....
-
Same here but it's hit and miss as to whether it works or not. Is there an upper limit to picture size that it won't/ can't handle?
Having said that, the pic of my top box mount above failed to send previously and that was not resized prior to my attempt above.
-
It doesn't specify a maximum size but obviously the processing effort increases for huge files (5mb would be considered huge for a web image that can display adequately at 50kb).
I am not hearing that lots of people are struggling with image uploads, or am I wrong?
-
I have a workaround, just struggle straight from the phone.
-
Does that mean you struggle from the PC?
-
I don't have a pc, I just resize on the phone and upload. Seems to worm
-
Try from phone
-
Same file from computer
:icon_exclaim:
-
Testing upload from private folder
-
Far too much information...
-
Just tried again and failed to load picture, blank page again :dl_smiley_banghead:
-
What is the file size and format?
-
All have been .jpg 4032x3024 The last one was 4.3mb
It downloaded OK from my phone and computer but won't load now
-
4mb is pretty big, the forum software will compress it right down. Try resizing it and then uploading and let me know how that goes.
-
Resize down to 70%
I've only just started to get problems, worked fine all last year
Worked fine when resized
Even tried a file of 2.6mb and still failed
-
Nothing has changed with the site, no updates etc. I am trying to get a feel for how many people are having the problem.
-
:angry-banghead:
This one is over 6mb and has worked
-
One from my phone.
-
That was about 4.6 MB originally.
This Brescia Bugatti , posted from a PC, is about 3MB
-
This is one from my phone.
-
I also tried to post two largish pics at the same time...it just crashed! A bit too ambitious, I suppose ????
-
Just use stoner picture resizer a great free piece of software that works well.
It will take them to KB in size but will keep the quality. :thumb:
-
Is it being timed out due to slow phone /signal transfer rate? This is something that can vary with time and place?
-
test .jpg 1.2Mb
-
Brockett..... no, I don't think it's a signal strength issue - I was using the PC at the time, wired to the router: seemed to me that I'd just given the forum software too much to deal with all at once. I've no problems with single large pics, from PC or phone.
(And it's so much easier than having to upload to separate hosting sites first, create a link, and post it on the forum :) ).
-
Had the same problem. Picture from Samsung S7 Edge, about 4.5mb. Picture didn't loaded, blank screen after.
-
Folks, it seems to me that the picture resizing function may struggle sometimes processing certain images. An image to be displayed on the web does not need to be print quality, it should be Kb rather than Mb.
Particularly if you are uploading multiple images, I would suggest using one of the many free resources to resize them first. An image of 4.5Mb could be reduced by a factor of ten and still be big enough to display properly.
-
I have put a screen in the for sale section and resized the pics before posting. Worked first time uploading 3 pics at once. I used an app called "Photo and picture resizer". Genius name, the developer must be a clever person.
-
Off piste publicity eh!

Moi...? :shy:
