Road 5 Trail - Rear Replaced after 9000 miles
« on: June 08, 2018, 18:58:34 »
Just had another fitted today, £144 at Demon Tweeks.

The first was fitted in middle of Feb' and I did 9040 miles.

I'm not an expert judge but it seems to be a very grippy tyre - scraped my pegs a few times and never experienced any heart stopping slides in the wet.

The edges of the tread valleys started to go a bit 'stringy' as it approached the end but didn't notice any difference in performance.

Don't think it squared off too badly although I mainly do not-very-straight Welsh B roads.

Going by the wear bars it may have been possible to push it another four or five hundred miles but was concerned about greater puncture risk with the thinner rubber.

The front Road 5 looks it could be good until this new rear is done.

How opportune, I was just about to take my bike out and found out it has a flat rear tyre. The nail is in the center of the tyre and it with the amount t of wear it just isn't worth repairing. Looks like I need a Road5 for my bike now!
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care...

That's a good mileage,  I'd be more than happy with that.  I think my pr4 rear will last about half that on my Veek. I to will try the 5 next  time.

Remember blokes...

The OP has a 650 not a 1000.

I've had that sort of mileage out of all the rear tyres on my K6 wee. Pilot Road 1's, anakee 2,  K60s and Mitas e-07.

I find on a 1000cc adventure bike expect around 5-7k from a rear depending on how it's ridden.
A vee ridden in anger could toast a Road 5 in under 4k easily.
