BLOW JOB
« on: November 28, 2023, 20:08:12 »
Now I have your attention;  does anyone dry their bike with a leaf blower? The Boss wants one, a cordless electric one, and is trying to convince me that if I chipped in to buy a decent one I could blow dry the bike with it.

Yes, bought a cheap leaf blower specifically for 'drying' the bike, used it twice so far and it sure beats the hell out of hand drying with a chamois leather. Skint knuckles and stubbed fingers are no more. I will add, at two occasions for far, I'm no expert and am still working out the best way to get the job done a) in a timely manner and b) in an efficient way. I didn't spend a lot of money on mine.
Others experiences will be different...

:thumb:  cheers. Looks like I'm going to be subsidising the translocation of expired foliage, then.

Blimey..

Think I might open a salon for motorcycles where their bikes would get a makeover and the owners would also be able to get a manicure...  :stirpot:

Something for the weekend sir ..

I use a pet hair dryer rather than a leaf blower. Does warm air and has a flexible hose.
(they sell them as motorbike driers too and charge three-four times the price)

I have a Worx leaf blower (battery), it is surprisingly powerful. It never occurred to me to use it to dry the bike  :shy:

Paul - what brand/model do you have?

Kwackboy ,
You may be onto something.
Signature Moto near me already does it.They are a "boutique" shop and only sell top end MVs,Bimotas,Ducatis etc.
During the riding season people turn up on their white Bimotas in their white leathers and leave the bike for a wash while they grab a taxi into the city, for a coffee. :dl_smiley_banghead:

And as for drying..........well you know my thoughts on washing it so ............?

Another pet drier user here, I would like to advise the o.p. that some form of ear protection is advisable during the drying process. The jet blast is considerable and thus detrimental to one's lugs.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Thank you. But.... pet driers are no good for leaves. What interests her highness is a cordless blower that is suitable for bike drying, so she can persuade me to spend money. Hence the question.

Another vote for a pet dryer here. Although my old one stopped working a few weeks ago after 6/7 years. On disassembly the brushes were worn out, I acquired new brushes & fitted them but it destroyed them in a few minutes!
Anyway, I just replaced it with this.............

Rusty, let the good lady buy the leaf blower (you could even buy it for her & wrap it in tinsel for Christmas?) but get yourself a pet dryer. Excellent bit of kit, although they have doubled in price since I bought the first one!!  ###

It doesn't get too much use in the summer when the bike will dry outside OK but this time of year after a ride & it gets hosed down I will dry it before putting it away.

I use a stihl 2 stroke leaf blower, left over from my farming days. does a good job albeit rather noisily. always mean to sell it and buy a dewalt battery one as I have dewalt tools.

Overtime, Mick? Started at 06:30, just going back to the office now. More work to do back there. No breaks taken. It's 15:50.

Buy her a rake Rusty. Cheaper and good for the bugs. You can also sell it as exercise too...
Then get a pet dryer for the bike - mine is one like Mick's and they're cheaper in pink (or were when I bought mine). Good for doing the bicycles too.

One of the neighbours has a leaf blower and he's out there for hours every weekend... It's not at all annoying  :angry-banghead:

You could also use the rake to gather the parts that fall off your KTM after you've used the pet dryer   :icon_wink:
