Nice bike, I'm test riding one at the weekend.  The only thing that puts me off is that the bike doesn't have tubeless tyres.

Pictures do not do the Africa Twin justice. I had a flying visit from his Ridazness and chum (I'm shocking with names) today, all I can say is WOW. The AT is a proper thought out engineered 'bike. No oil filters or coolers stuck in vulnerable positions, the exhaust is routed up out of the way, the radiators are stuck up on either side shrouded by the tank and unlikely to be struck by anything the front wheel chucks up. The materials used are very high quality, the rear brake pedal is substantial it could be mistaken for a kick start it's that robust. The castings for the peg carriers are exactly that, castings that won't budge when it's dropped /crashed.

It is high though. Being a short ar*s it was a climb aboard but the suspension is so plush I could plant my feet easier than the Nail. Handle bar position is spot on for me and the same for the pegs.

The giant 21" front wheel and tubed tyres put me off, however a quick measure up shows that a 17" CBR 600 F3 has the same disc spacing and would go in with a simple disc swap. The 18" rear would also have to go again CBR wheels will fit. It would play havoc with the traction control and ABS.....

A ride awaits next time we're out and about, I need the Nail running first. :thumb:

Thanks to Ridaz and chum for popping round.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

'Tis a very tempting offer.. but no good for anyone with a fear of heights.
Watched a rider & pillion climb aboard one recently, it put me off, the lass on pillion had her knees bent like she was on the back of a sportsbike..
Having said all that, I'm going to see if I can blag a test ride.. just to rule it out.

It was great to catch up today and see where all your magic happens....there are bike bits everywhere.

Not only does he live to tinker with the bike but he had built niagra falls in his back garden!

Sound like your good lady drive really well today.  Mrs Ridaz made her fees back but that was it.

I had a test ride on Friday and loved the bike. I didn't think the DCT would be for me but I was totally sold.  Regarding the seat height, on the lowest setting I found it lower than the stock DL650 seat.

With DCT ATs at under 9k with 3 yrs interest free, they are (or perhaps were...) a bit of a bargain.
