michelin r5 trail- my thoughts
« on: April 26, 2018, 22:47:22 »
OK, this is my opinion of the R5 Trail (note: the regular R5 are different) after 500 miles-

Naughty speed stability- excellent
Straight line braking- great
Cornering dry- not slipped once
Cornering wet- not slipped once
Road surface feedback- good (although it feels hard)
White line wondering- surprisingly twitchy on banded\ white line surfaces, both front and rear (tyre pressure is spot on)- think Pirelli Phantom twitchy

Anyhoo, this is the first set of Michelin's in 16 years that haven't been perfect.
In my defence, she did leave me unsupervised.

White line wandering doesn't sound good, just about to fit a set to my 650 this week, I'll report back how the handling is.

I've not noticed any white line issues so far. Will do some tests over the weekend

I've just put about 700 miles on them and never had a wobble in the rain or on any white lines either.

I've done about 300odd miles now.... mostly twisty stuff with the odd big stretch / bypass here and there.... I'm feeling very confident with how the road 5's feel. Solid in the dry....great in the few bits of wet surface I've be on. Lean agles are greatly improved over the old squared off battle wings that came on the bike....

Got the front R5 Trail recently, so far I did noticed improved grip. Bike is like glued to the road. So far so good :)
