Oxford P60r throw-over panniers
« on: October 06, 2018, 10:12:22 »
I am considering a pair of Oxford P60 throw-over panniers on my '18 V-strom 650.  I don't want any hard luggage and I am not planning doing anything more than the odd weekend away.  Has any one here used these items, and does anyone know if when fitted, the right hand pannier will clear the exhaust.

Thanks in advance.

I may have a pair of Oxford soft panniers, if I can find find them you can have them gratis .
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I am so, so sorry.

I've just been up to the loft and had a rummage, it would appear that they were a victim of the last cull of stuff. :shy:

Hello, not to worry.  And thanks for looking.

I really don't mind forking out for a pair of new ones, just don't want the right hand side one frying on the silencer.

Hi how did you get on with the Oxford panniers? I was thinking of getting some, but same concerns.
Cheers

Hi,
Have you taken a look at the Givi soft panniers..... water proof and hold 25 lts each. From the picture attached they will probably clear the exhaust on a 2018 V Strom. I have used them on 4 trips now with no issues and they are definitely water proof. This last weekend in Scotland proved that!

The V-Strom's exhaust is longer than the Kawasaki's.  Also the pillion grab rails stick out a fair way.  If the bags are fitted below the handles it only gives about 25cm of depth.  I might experiment with a really cheap set of bags and see how they go and the practicalities they throw up.  If I find something which works, I might then invest the more serious cash in similar sized Oxford or  Givi items.

Hi all.

I was looking at the Oxford P60s as well.  Are they compatable with the exhaust on the Vstrom?  Anyone use them?  Be good to see if anyone has a photo of them on their bike...

Cheers.

Subject to you riding solo ....  a dry bag strapped on the pillion may do the trick.

This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
