Title: Altering screen height.
Post by: Michellis on March 30, 2015, 21:50:09
Sorry if this is a really dumb question!

I am getting to grips with my new DL650 and inevitably mucking about with the screen.

It's currently in the middle position and I wanted move it up (or down). When I unscrew it there are the rubber mounted brass nuts in the middle position holes and rubber bungs in the upper and lower options. I pulled off these rubber bungs expecting to find similar rubber mounted brass nuts but nothing, just a hole. So I assume I have to somehow pull out the rubber mounted brass nuts, but I just don't seem to be able to pull them out and I don't want to force them...

Am I on the right track here...

Thanks in anticipation....

Yes, pull them out and reinsert in relevant holes. I used some small pliers to carefully prise out.

The Glee screen uses well nuts to hold it in place.

This video gives some idea of how they work:

Easy to buy extras on ebay, as they do seem to like falling down into the cowling, and being black become hard to find.

If you can't pull them out, feed some strimmer line through the hole and push them through. Pick them off the line at the other side. If they're still compressed, stick them in a cup of boiling water to straighten them out.
