Why the Versys over the Veek? (assuming that's what you're going for and not something completely different)

I found the Versys much smoother all round and lighter on the controls, clutch, gears and brakes. The V-strom was 'lumpy' and I felt lag and surge from the engine. I'm not planning on doing much 'off road' and the kit on the Versys will suit my needs in general - I'm going for the 'Grand Tourer' option which gives Panniers, 47l top box, hand guards, 12V socket. It comes with centrestand as standard.
I've loved my Wee but wouldn't go for the new 1000,  the Glee would be closer but I felt happier and more comfortable on the Versys and thought I'd go for a change.

Good choice Numpty  :)

Once I realised the DL1000 was a non runner for me I sniffed around the Versys 1000 before settling on the Super Tenere  :thumb:

Same, if the S10 hadn't been the bargain it was at the time I'm sure I'd be on a Versys 1000 now,
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

That new Versys 1000 is a nice bike, great for touring I would imagine.  I had a ride on the last model which was pretty good but pretty ugly too. :auto-dirtbike:

What's worse is gear indicator is calculated by an algorithm not what gear you're in so gives false readings. Also goes blank when you pull the clutch in. No idea why not done like the Strom and just in the clocks?

I rode one of the latest versions, and this review mentions it:
