Vstrom 1000 battery
« on: April 03, 2024, 23:01:03 »
Anyone know the difference between a Yuasa ytx14 battery and ytx14-bs?  Halfords only have the 14 and the oe battery is a 14-bs. Both are maintenance free and the same size. Dealers here are looking over 90 quid for the 14-bs and I don't want a cheap Chinese one either. Confused, don't take much!

What does the BS stand for in YTX14 BS?
The part numbers for dry batteries end with “-BS” to signify “bottle supplied” so you fill it yourself.
Hope this helps mate.  :thumb:

Cheers User650. The standard oe battery is an AGM maintenance free one that you can't fill yourself in any way but marked ytx14-bs.
Been back to Halfords this morning a bought the Ytx14, looks the same as the oe, just to charge it up fully then fit it later just in time for the bad weather that's hitting this weekend!

Just put a new battery in my '14 DL1000 - got the part from M&P - https://www.mandp.co.uk/products/vp14-4-vertex-battery-716555 - had some 'points' with them so got if for £35 instead of £40 delivered.  Fitted at the weekend and working well so far.
