Oxford heated grips turn off after being on for one minute
-
Do you mean with the ignition on indicating a problem or after the ignition is turned off for our information?
-
Those heated grips are designed to turn off automatically when the battery voltage drops below a certain threshold, if I were you I'd check the following before assuming its a problem with the grips.
Check that the bike is charging correctly, running voltage should be around 13-15v while holding revs at around one third of maximum.
Make sure you're not over loading the bikes charging system, if you're charging voltage is fine without extras turned on try turning them on one at a time until everything is turned on. you may find you're trying to draw too much power at once and the charging system can't keep up.
Do you have any cold starting issues ? it may be an old battery with dead cells meaning its lost some of its capacity to hold onto a charge, this is pretty hard to test for and most people only notice when the battery can't start the bike anymore.
If none of that applies and your grips are within warranty I'd get in touch with the place you bought them from, there could be a fault with the controller which will need sending back to Oxford for inspection before they issue a replacement.

the bike has been off the road in a shed for 5 months ,it happens when the engine is running revving it makes no difference ,the bike is two years old . when running it showing 14.1 volts charging ,could it be the battery I don't use a trickle charge when in storage, first time on it today

What model Oxford grips do you have ? The slightly older versions had issues with the controller.
You may have 14v at the battery but not necessarily at the point your grips are wired into. Oxford grips like to have a minimum of 13.5v to run otherwise they switch off .

kwackboy is correct. A huge batch of the controllers had this same problem. It must have been about 10 years ago.

If you can, find somebody local who has Oxford grips and plug in their controller to check it out. Unfortunately, last time I looked, a new controller wasn’t much cheaper that a discounted new grip set!

New controller £27 @ machine mart. I'd avoid the chrome cruiser model as mine went faulty and drained the battery.
