Waterproof oversuit ?
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:13:22 »
I'm after a new waterproof oversuit, either 1 or 2 peice to go over my summer textile gear. The key point is the 'waterproof' bit as my current one peice is like a sponge after 30 mins... And I'm going to Scotland in July. Any recommendations folks ???

I've got a Held Monsoon all in one. Its brilliant and never a leak yet. I can pull it on over boots and whatever else I'm wearing.Highly recommended.

Well, almost a year since I posted about a one peice oversuit I have finally bought one ! I have 'splashed out' on a Held Monsun as per Countrysailors fine recommendation. Thus far it is yet to be used in anger but it goes on over the bike gear with minimal fuss and looks more waterproof than my previous efforts. No doubt I shall be able to update on it's water resistance due to the crappy weather were 'aving at the moment & trip round Scotland on the Queens Jubilee weekend is bound to bring rain....

What a waste of money

It hasn't rained up here for ages. It's certainly been bone dry since just after The One Show ended, with the slightest hint of drizzle just as Eastenders started, but it'll have all gone by mid-November.

Rain suit indeed....... ###

You're not wrong, I was in York (well Clifton, just off the A1237) on Thursday at a buisiness meeting and it was hosing down ! Just out of interest does the single carriageway A19 always back up with traffic in rush hour to the dual carriageway A19 or was that a one off due to the weather ???

Just returned from a fantastic long weekend in Scotland and the Held Monsoon gets a big 'thumbs up' from me. I got caught in two seperate torrential cloudbursts on Monday and emerged bone dry. Very easy to put on too and not in the slightest bit 'flappy'. No restriction of movement and not too sweaty either. The only downside is the velcro neck fastening rubs on my neck a bit, sorted with a Buff/snood. Very happy.

P.S. even happier to get caught in only two showers over four days in Scotland !

I'm looking for an over-jacket only. My textiles are now getting old and with money being tight I can't buy a new pair simply because of a small leak in the front that I can't seem to get sorted out with waterproof sprays and Renapur. I don't need the trousers and, let's be honest, they are a PITA to put on road side anyway. It will be kept in the top box so needs to fold up small and tidy. Cheap as possible while still able to do the job. Any suggestions welcome.
