Overboots

Hi all, am looking at getting a new pair of overboots, after my Tech-7 ones didn't last very long at all. Is there much disadvantage to a full sole rather than the Tech-7s open sole & straps arrangement, and has anybody tried either of these:

Just invest in some good boots and keep them waterproofed. I've got Alterberg Hoggs and have had them about 4 years. I treat them with Ledergris every few months and they've never leaked.
