RST Adventure pants
« on: February 18, 2014, 20:45:33 »
Whilst idly browsing ebay I discovered these -

At £99 it seemed rude not to, so I bought a pair. As the new Adventure 2 kit hits the shops there may be some bargains around for the 'old' stuff.

 A good buy at that price especially. They were 160 quid last year...I got the ones down the range from them, good kit so far! :)

I have the Paragon 3 trousers, didn't like the removable waterproof insert in the Adventure version. When summer came last year I was cooking and wished I had taken the adventure suit. When winter came around again I was glad I didn't, the Paragon 3 has a neck covering that very good to have in the winter and when it's pissing down (which is most of the time on this island.)

Very good price though :thumb:

I have paragon 3 too. They fit me OK considering I am 34 inside leg. Haven't noticed the excess warmth yet but I am hoping that the air vents at the from will do their job.

I have the paragon 3 as well, got the jacket first then got the matching trousers. The jacket leaked around the zip after about 6 months so took it back and the sent it back too manufacturer who sent a new one, these now have a flap behind the zips.
I've also got a pair of kevlar jeans for when it's a bit warmer.

I like the sound of "Adventure Pants"! Exciting!

Yeah, I was rather disappointed to discover they are in fact trousers.

It would have been nice if, upon donning said trousers, a 'Mr Ben' moment occurred. Still, anything that close to my hoop is in for an adventure ! Or should that be ordeal ?

Well my new strides have arrived and I'm very impressed with them. They appear to be well made and well thought out. I've removed the thermal liner and the waterproof liner as I never need them (I use a one piece waterproof oversuit when required if I'm touring). The vents look like they will be a godsend on hot days and the reflective piping can't be a bad thing either. Plenty of pockets and I like the neat Velcro fastening. Looking good so far and I'll update when I get a few miles on them.

Get ready for adventure! Just a thought, if you've taken out the waterproofyness and the keepyouwarmyness aren't you just left with, erm, pants?

Pants it indeed is ! It's annoying that very few manufacturers make non- waterproof bike clothing, so you end up having to buy the bits you'll never use.

The waterproof lining should add some wind proofing. You can try with and without to feel the difference. I find being windproof in the cold is more important that being thermal lined.

Are they not called 'leathers'?  :neen:

I got an RST adventure jacket for  Christmas but as it was a little big for me I went back to change it over the weekend and managed to upgrade to the newer version, looking forward to trying it out.
