Here we go again! Insurance renewal
« on: March 09, 2020, 13:16:08 »
Hi All
I have been insured for my bike insurance for many years with LV but this year the quote is just not competitive, so I went on one of the comparison sites and the best quote was from Post Office Insurance at £72 fully comp. My question is, has anyone else been insured with them and what was your experience.
I have read bad reviews about Carole Nash and Adrian Flux from other members and they are the other more competitive quotes.
Thanks in advance.
Pete

When you choose on price, all insurance companies will be subject of reports from disgruntled customers.
There will also be bad reviews of less cheap insurers too...
Pay your money and take your choice. You will soon not be able to get cover included before long for travel to the EU so be mindful of this potential extra cost if you plan on going abroad with your bike.

I'm with Bikesure (Adrian Flux) as they're cheapest on the same cover. I have no idea what they're like in the event of having to claim, however I expect most insurance companies to have the starting position of 'how do we avoid paying for this?'

If the cover level and terms and conditions are good, then I don't see why you'd have an issue with Post Office Insurance.

(I wish I could get fully comp for £72  :bawl:)

Because each case is different, you never know how your insurer will perform when you need them so I wouldn't base your purchase on other reviews.

I always go with Carole Nash after battling them over my renewal every year.

For your info the post office is underwritten by devit insurance I believe.

I am sick and tired of dealing with Carole Nash and their very obvious pricing model. Cheap year one, take the piss year two, wait for customer to call, make it sound like you are doing them a favour by bringing the price back inline with year one  :dl_soapbox:

Yes,  agreed.  :dl_smiley_banghead: It's a phone call I prepare myself for at least a month in advance every year and I always pay on the very last day.

They are all the same, I.e. full of shit, and hike at renewal time. All you can do is swap every year. It is a ball ache but it is the way of this f****d up World.

My renewal was £5 more than if I was a new customer, so not going to bother chasing round £127 fully comp.
Like others I have always been of the opinion the insurer will do their best to shaft us  ,so as long as it's all legal price is king.

I have just insured with Carole Nash for the first time after Bikesure did the "change of bike and second year price hike"... LV were the other possible choice..   But with all of them I'm nowhere near the numbers you are looking at..  Can anyone do a comparison?? how much fully comp for a £9000 bike 6000 miles per year, £100k legal cover plus home start and recovery Euro wide....

There's the problem ... A 9k bike with 6k miles per year.
Before I bought my F800 GSA I was looking at the new F850 GS , it was a 10k+ bike , I couldn't get any insurance quotes below £2000 . , I appreciate the fact that I live in London but geez..!.

I went with BeMoto last year. It's an Axa policy and was the cheapest I was quoted. Got my renewal in January and it was nearly £50 cheaper than the previous year. Very pleased with that. I've had too many issues with CN to even contemplate using them again. A shower of Muppets.

Thought I should just say my renewal was quoted at £503 and I eventually got it for £372.....

Thanks for the replies, went with Post office Insurance (Devitt) in the end £72 fully comp. Phoned LV (who I've been insured with for years) but they wouldn't move (£117). They have always been really competitive other years, I still have the Car, Caravan and House insured with them as the prices are still really good on those, maybe they are trying to get rid of bike insurance again, they only started doing it in the last few years. So that's it for another year, I'm sure I will do it all again next year when this years company become
 uncompetitive. :angry-banghead:

Not sure how relevant it is now, but I got 3rd party f and t, with cover to do the DAS on my bike, through bikesure, for the same price as everywhere else with DAS. £160 odd, zero no claims... Can't complain really.

Just gone through the yearly process. Have been with Hastings and they upped the quote a couple of quid from last year to £126.00. Told them the Post Office were quoting £87.00. After the usual "can you hold the line for 3 minutes whilst I take another look" they came back with £92.00. Job done.

Nick.

It's annoying they tend to charge a £35 admin fee on renewals.
Was it a like-for-like quote? If so, why not save £5 and go with the post office?

Carole Nash sent through the renewal on the GSX14 for the beginning of the month.

2 riders, 7 years no claims (iirc), 6k miles per year. Social/Commuting, Fully Comp £120
Last year was £106...

You know what, for for £14 it's not worth the effort to call around the money grabbing robbing barstewards asking for a few coffers less on the bill. Carole Nash will also auto renew.

I get it, but if a quick search on a comparison website had returned a quote of £90 then it's £30 not £16... I always search even if it's just to know I'm getting a fair renewal  :thumb:

I don't have a car licence which for some reason bumps it up, but having a bike licence takes down the car insurance
