A bit grim in the North...
« on: April 09, 2024, 17:08:06 »
After a 'bit' of an ordeal I finally managed to get home. Multiple road closures, broken down cars & vans everywhere and the Highway Code has gone out of the window, Pics of some of the carnage on the way home crossing the A189.

P.S. leccy cars are great in floods, nothing to drown as everything is sealed and submersible!

Not a bad biking day for Northumberland all things considered.
Our Wooler Water just North of you is teetering on the banks. I'm sure you'll know it well, the weir is basically non existent, just one deep muddy mass of water. I wouldn't want to be a duck!

It's certainly not bad enough for waterproofs yet...

We was touring Northumberland and the Scottish Borders over Easter and apart from one day we had pretty good weather considering the time of year.

We were going to postpone our break for a week or so .... glad we didn't

Looking at those pics I'd recommend a ploughing tractor 🚜 myself.
That ain't rain it's liquid sunshine 🌞

I would recommend a swamp boat with a great big fan.  :thumb:
Without rain, there would be no rainbows.

Interestingly, they had one lane of the A19 Northbound closed yesterday and they seem to have been digging a fairly deep ditch paralell with the farmland. I suspect someone at the council has had a bit of a kicking over the flooding and they seem to be trying to mitigate it. Time will tell if it works of course.
