Anakee 3 whine
« on: May 09, 2016, 18:57:02 »
Just fitted a set of Anakee 3's to my 650.
Have done about 800 miles on them.
It appears there is a whine/ howl from the front tyre at around 40-48mph.
Anyone else experience this?

Hi , I've just fitted the second set of Anakee 3s and yes they whine too ! just like the first set. I think its known by Michelin but not a problem ( Reason I say this is because my tyre supplier asked me if they made a noise, he obviously had been briefed ) ! My first set did 10,000 miles so small price to pay for brilliant performance !
I had Pilot road 4s on but I think I will stay with Anakee 3s now!

Yes, mine whined too to begin with. But not an unpleasant sound!

try some Heidenau K60's then complain about tyre whine.

My Anakee 2's have a slight whine on smooth tarmac.

Just ride it and forget about it.

No noise from mine. Try adjusting the screen. It's usually air flow and resonance that allows you to hear road noise.

I got a new whine at about 25mph when I fitted a new Tourance on the front. Don't notice it any longer.

Just wondering why you blokes bother fitting dual sport tyres, do you do forest tracks etc?
I was thinking when I replaced mine I'd go for a dual compound road tyre.

I put my tyres on from recommendation of other blokes who tell me good mileage wear and really good grip wet and dry.
I don't really notice the whine so much anymore.

Had the rear on for a couple of days and very impressed with the III's, tried them out on some gravel and dry mud. Mind you the BW's were totally shot.

Anakee 3's often make noise due to the tread pattern but noise is a small price to pay compared to the mileage you can get out of them.
I'm an early metzeler tourance fan, they only make noise when I'm banked over in bends, I fancy a change so my next set of tyres will be the Roadtec 01 .

Anyone who buys Anakee 3's for there of road abilities will be disappointed, off road they have slightly more grip than a slick ..!! My Michelin rep's words not mine .. :shy:

Yes you're right looking at some reviews any wet off road muddy situation seems a no-no as they have no true 'block pattern'. Glad I only 'creep' along in Summer on dry rutted/gravelly BOATs etc which I guess I could do on a sports bike  if I had to.

Anakee3 tyres are rated only 10% off road. You can't expect mud traction from such a road biased tyre. Found them to be OK in harder wet going and pretty good in dy rocky a. Plenty good enough for fire roads, and more if you drop the pressures.  Lovely on the roads, and no noise from mine.

I noticed that the South UK Michelin rep no longer works for the company!

The Sat Nav took me 'off road' in Somme/Picardie (?) yesterday between Amiens and Abbeville, decided to just go with the flow; it was a hard pack, stony/rocky pitted bridleway/RUPP over fields in the middle of farmland, the track was mostly dry and lasted for about 2 odd miles. 'Heart in mouth' in case I dropped it didn't know what it would be like (only me on the trip) I went for it and loved it, I know it's not the Road of Bones but it felt good in any case. Loving the Vee and the Anakee's.
