Newbie
« on: August 13, 2023, 18:40:57 »
Hi, got a brand new V Strom 1050. It's like being a ballet dancer, riding it round town, I haven't come anywhere near its maximum capacity yet. One reason for this is the wet weather. I was told not to ride it in the wet until the tyres were scrubbed in, so basically I've done about 20 miles and that's it, cos it's been pouring! There is one puzzling issue: petrol consumption. It's doing about 25 MG (11km per litre on the dash), which is nuts. Is this because I've only ridden it round town for the time being? I need to find a board for this question, or start a new topic maybe, as I doubt anyone will be very interested in reading about the new boy in town. Looking forward to some forum interaction. Cheers; Mark .

I think that conversion might be to US MPG, I reckon it's nearer 31 MPG.

Still too low though.

One gallon is about 4.5 litres so 11.miles per litre is about 50 MPG.
Can't you change your display to MPG.
I would ride the bike in the rain, just don't hoon about and brake late.

This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Short journeys/rides will kill MPG. As per Brockett's advice, though the weather is looking good later this week  :sunny:
