@Brockett, nice work brother.

On a different topic does your brush cutter vibrate like a bastard? I've been out clearing the local footpaths and my hands and fingers are still tingling.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Vibrating strimmer problems can be due to:-
Uneven length cutting line.
The line trimming blade built into the shield goes for a walk and the line thrashes round hitting the shield.

I do not use the metal blade but I think that would cause a fair bit of shaking if it was knocked out of true.

Also check the drive cable has a little grease on it and is not binding.

The line length thing off the guard "disappeared" last year so there's that. I'll give the drive shaft a dose of looking at as well.

Cheers Dave. :thumb:

The SV 650 thought it was Christmas when I presented her with a set of SW-Motech engine bars.      :badgift:       They arrived at 2:30 and were on by 4:30. I can't take the bike out in the sun for a better picture because my No.2 son ( so very well named) parked his No. 2 car in front of the garage so I can't be tempted to go for a ride yet. :angry-tappingfoot:

What did I do to my bike today? Sold it. Not the V Strom, a BMW. Buyer took a quick look (very quick look) then asked me to follow him to his bank then paid me in full. He asked if I could collect him from his house(one mile away) and bring him back to the bike.
(Sadly, I couldn't offer him a cup of tea or even a hand shake).
I did, he got on and rode away. Obviously I have a bill of sale, signed and dated and the DVLA doc's are posted.

I love it when a good plan comes together.  :lala:

Parcels arrived, so gave my KTM some new boots.
I've been asked why I have 3 bikes, well that's because I'm not allowed any more.

Today in the shed of despair. I noticed the Optimate 3 connected to the SV has a green light flashing. It did this all day so I disconnected it. 12.89 volts showing. Battery connections tight. nothing is "ON" I'll reconnect it tomorrow and see if the Optimate is sulking or if the Battery has this bloody virus.
On the Z900: I fitted the Garmin handlebar mount and wired it to a Mk1 BigPie power box. I made a connection to the underseat socket outlet which I can't ever see me using as it only works with the ignition on and I'm not riding with a phone under the seat. That said I don't think there's enough room for it anyway. It's on a SORN at present and it may be SORN forever as far as I can tell.
On the M800 I made additional supports for the side bags to provide er... a bit more support.  Hopefully, now they won't flap about like a nun's hat at any speed above 35mph.

Chatted with a neighbour... well I listened as he went on and on about having his freedom restricted and becoming depressed due to having nothing to do except watch TV all day  and all the while I'm recalling him telling me how prisoners are spoilt with all that TV doing nothing all day.
On the bright side the much forecast rain, thunder and lightning with gale force winds still didn't happen. It was a nice day for ride on my bike. I didn't of course, but now I running out of things to do.

I'm starting to get splinters from the bottom of the barrel...

Now that I have the two tyre pressure monitors, I thought it sensible to print little labels to remind me which display is which bike:

I also decided today would be the day that I changed the last of the connectors on the battery tenders: having an Optimate and a CTEK means that they had different plugs so I've been replacing them with XT60 plugs that I used in some RC car racing applications:

Gold plated conductors, good for 60A continuous (CTEK puts out 3.6A), you can't reverse them accidentally, and they're quite hard to short out. Now I don't have to look for the specific connector to go with the charger I'm looking to use.

Get a grip of yourself man and do it properly the first time. It will save you time in the long run. How do I know that? Well I have the wisdom of doing it twice, thrice so many times and will probably do it again.  :thumb:

But, if you fix something properly this week, what are you going to do when you're bored again next week?

Shall I or shan't I .... change the fork oil and check out the head stock bearings on the VZ. A 2008 bike and I bet they've never been touched.
I wonder why they don't have drain plugs on fork legs. It would save me having to take the forks off just to change the oil.

Fair question: the old Guzzis both have drain plugs and they only use 75ml of oil to lubricate the cartridge so it's less of an issue if it gets a bit old & dirty. Saving a few Yen per unit is the driver probably - better them saving it and you paying more to maintain later on!
The 990 also doesn't, but they're upside down jobs so not so easy to put in I'm thinking. I might consider doing those sometime as I suspect they're factory fresh as well. Not sure how I'll get her up high enough to get them out though - have to think that one through first...

On the 990, if you have a main stand the forks will slide out easy with the front wheel and mudguard removed.

Good to know: never really looked to be honest.  :thumb:
I suppose taking the wheel out alone leaves 12" of drop space for the forks at least - forgetting how big the front wheel was.
I know I'll need a tool to open the tops which is why I've left that job in the sometime maybe pile.
