My sister sold her bike to them. It saves any comeback from private buyers when something goes wrong 3 months after sale. but you will not get top dollar as they are there to make money.

I tried them for price and they offered way way below bottom book price.  But they want to make money.

The car version's employee incentive scheme worked on getting as close to half of the initial estimate as possible so they'd nitpick every little flaw. They're there for those who just need to dump a vehicle in a hurry for whatever reason.

I've used the car service on three occasions for various family members. Each time we received an amount far in excess of any part-ex offered and zero hassle from Herberts answering ebay or autotrader adverts.

Yes they do their best to chip you down on the original offer, it's up to you if you want to accept it. If you don't drive away.

Evans Halshaw bought the last one, beating WBAC by just under a thousand pounds.

Good luck and be realistic in your expectations.  :)

If you're in no rush to sell, they will often up their initial offer if you don't respond. But I imagine the vast majority of their trade comes from people needing to sell, rather than wanting to. And they know it.

I’ve asked them for a price on a couple of bikes in the past and the price given was always well below book price. However I think the current shortage of used stock has probably made them a bit keener to offer a decent deal. I had a BM Urban GS before I bought my 1050 and the Suzuki dealer wasn’t offering a decent price for it so I thought I’d give them another go. Initial offer was £900 below trade so I e-mailed them back and told them what I wanted for it (an optimistic amount) They wouldn’t pay that but gave me £300 over book for my bike which was a surprise, so did the deal with them. The whole process was quick and painless, they checked the bike and paper work over at collection and there was not haggling, money in my bank before they left and no hassle. I think if you describe your vehicle accurately and fairly then you probably won’t have any problems with them.

Everyone's talking about book values, but where can you check them nowadays?

The site I knew (parker's) stopped showing them for motorcycles.

Maybe we could fill out the details on WBAB, add 10% to their offer, and use that as a fair offer to a private seller. Thoughts?

I tried them recently. They offered me 5100 quid for my 2018 Vstrom 1000. The dealer I part ex'd it in gave me 7000 quid against my new bike.

Reply to Raing   - try TheBikeMarket.co.uk      It gives prices for most makes/models,and gives a year, dealer price/Private Price./ PX price  all at a certain mileage. I allow £50 per 1000 miles to allow for the mileage above or below the miles given.
I find  the prices stated, fairly accurate represent prices for bikes, that a lot of dealers are asking, but find that a lot of private sellers ask more than the private price stated.
The site is free to use.

The way I see it, there are few private buyers for high value used bikes from private sellers because few people seem to save up to buy something these days. It is all about credit. Consequently, unless it is a very desirable model, most get traded in at a dealership for another new bike. It seems dealers prefer to sell on finance as they make money on that also. Funny old World.

I had a mint Suzuki GW250 that I was negotiating a PX deal with. The dealer put it to them for fun with photos of course. Their first offer was £689 which they upped to £900 after a day. The dealer offered me £1750 which seemed quite reasonable. I ended up selling it to a different dealer for £2100 who put it up for sale at £2900. It was sold inside a week!

I tried them in the spring when I fancied selling my Rocket III.

Bloke came round. All very chummy.   Took loads of photos. Spent nearly two hours poking about  and he said it was worth about £6250. Then after all that his phone rang. Sorry mate they don't want it.

Whoever they were!

Got £8500 from a Triumph dealer. Paid  £11000 for it in 2015.

Wouldn't touch this lot again with a bargepole.
