So - I took my new Strom in for the recall and thought they might as well fit some heated grips for me whilst the tank was off. £140 later and this is how it was given back to me!
Look at the state of the throttle cable!
1. Looks stupid and upside down
2. Hits the hand guard every time I let off the throttle
3. Doesn't rest in the fully off position as the wire is held by the hand guard
4.Not enough slack left for me to open the throttle fully without it pulling on the grip cable.
When I complained about it, the "technician" came up and said - well its fine, it would hit the tank otherwise if I put it the right way (I have risers so it would clear the tank by about 3 inches...
) and they work...after 10 mins of "discussion",they tried to take it off and put it the right way but the grip glue had stuck and they couldn't do it without damaging the throttle tube so now it has to go back for a new throttle tube and grip to be refitted. I was also told by the parts bloke that "another "technician" said that's the way they would fit it too.
Well...I won't be going back to this "main dealer" again.
OR.....am I wrong and this is an acceptable way to fit heated grips?
