Kidney belt? What is it good for ... kidneys?
« on: July 14, 2020, 14:17:54 »
Read somewhere that kidney belt ensures that kidneys do not smash around when driving on bumpy roads... really?

But... I can actually feel some pain in my lower back after riding a lot. Will a kidney belt help on this? If so... will any kind do?

Regards, Lars.

I used to wear one when I was running the Maicos in the early 80's and found that it helped reduce lower back discomfort from a day's riding, and also some protection for that area when you had the inevitable off. Don't know if it was my kidneys or muscle that it was protecting though.

I wear a “support” belt every time I go out on the bike,I have found that more than a couple of hours on the bike without the belt gives me a sore back next day.

@ mr nick I also used to wear a kidney belt when I used to ride moto cross

@Ianmc I noticed you were wearing a support belt when I met you last week I am glad you find it a benefit  :thumb:

@ bonne I would recommend you try a kidney/support belt to see if it helps your lower back you might find it beneficial ?

Kidney belts also help keep your core warm in the winter  :thumb:

I think the last two lines in 'the quote' may have been added by brettchallenger to the original by bonne (Lars), I can't see them anywhere else in the original post or the thread?
If that's the case, how did it happen?

I see the addition now.

You can do that by typing in before the second /quote bit. Like this...

After coming off my older bike when having something in my pocket I will never carry anything remotely hard in pockets or backpack (Topbox and tank bag from now on.

When I hit the ground it was what was in my pocket that did more damage than anything else.....It was the size of a Gopro (bit smaller) and made of plastic but it nearly crippled me, and I mean it very nearly made me crippled!!

Never again. Please blokes its extremely unlikely you will come off but anything that is on your person becomes a danger to you when you hit the floor.
Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die.

If you look at my photo you will see I have a kidney belt on, this was 1981 on a 250 CanAm qualifier.
