An interesting thought ! but with BOC prices I'm probably better off sticking to petrol !

Which of course it is, cos it's about 80% as dense :-) - I reckon you'd save about 4kg with the Strom's 22 litre tank (still a stupid idea though as LPG has a lower energy density than petrol so you'd have to fill up more often unless you made the tank bigger  )
Anyway, enough pedantry  - here's me:

Has to be Eastern Europe. Has to be the Danube. The bit of poster on the ground looks Cyrillic, so that narrows it down...
I'm guessing the observation balcony of the Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad, Serbia.

Hello Hutchie,
I am in my motorhome on the campsite in Poolewe.
Just browsing the site after having a ride out to Ullapool today
Maybe you could help me? What protection do I need for my bike (protection bars etc) and where is the best place to get them?
Actually it is not my desktop picture! That would be of a lovely beach just up the road from here called Mellon Udrigle.
Have you had a look at my website?
Regards
Dean
-
aye, been all over your site pal.
Givi bars are the most popular. I got Givi's because they protect the top of the bike a bit more (but fit them right, or you'll be driven mental by a wierd rattle after a while, contact me or read another post in the gallery bit from earlier today.
If you're getting a bashplate as well, there are a few to go for. Forget about any one that has a hole to drain the oil without removing the bashplate, because 1. Where there's a hole there's room for the bike to get a smack, and 2. I defy anybody to remove the oil drain bolt and magically drain oil through another hole below it, and 3. How the fk you going to get the oil filter off. (And even if you don't do this sort of thing yourself, you want to get used to taking it off and on so you ain't paying a mechanic labour to undo some bolts. I got one from a bloke in the USA , narcosis junkie, because it was the most substantial one I could find, and it has had a hammering, with no ill effects, and I mean a real battering, 2 up offroad etc. The swmotech one has been upgraded lately, might be worth a look, and the best one I ever came across really is by some australian blokes, B & B or something like that.
Get crash bars on as soon as you can though, they are a piece of cake to fit, really , very easy indeed, and you'll be gutted if the bike goes over in some gravel or falls off the sidestand while you ponder the crashbar options.
Also if you're noticing a bit of a buffeting or whatever, move your screen up (again, dead easy), and stick a few washers in the bottom 2 bolt mounts, to tilt it a wee bit (or buy a madstad if you are loaded)
Also, change your mirrors to aprilia ones (loads of posts about that) and/or get mirror extenders. Not only will you see more behind you, including your good lady's grin, but you'll reduce the buffeting a bit.
Cheapest option to reduce buffeting though I reckon is to lift your visor. I canny remember the last time I had my visor down, although I use a wee inner sunshade visor a lot.
There ye go!
-
Thanks for that Hutchie :thumb:
I saw the post about the rattle from the crash bars. I did nearly drop it today  Nee to get them fitted as soon as possible.
Lots to think about but many thanks
Dean
-
I did nearly drop it today
Dropping a strom is almost inevitable.. I was adamant I wasn't going to drop mine and it's gone over 3 times now (twice when I wasn't even on it ffs) so the engine bars are definitely the first thing to get :-)
-

Same, I came off slowly riding into a gravel car park not realising how loose the gravel was and how much of a bad idea going anywhere near gravel is :D really really really glad I had the givi engine bars, (and handguards) saved me a lot of money and made it possible to pick it up (4 of us!?) and ride away with just a broken indicator.

I see you were in the USA when this photo was shot:
http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/attachmen ... girl_3.jpg (http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/attachments/general-bike-related-topics/22869-vegas-ride-pics-hooter_girl_3.jpg)
were you on tour over there?
-
Busted!!
Looks like our Michelle wasn't all she claimed to be. Maybe a 25 stone middle aged man/woman ??
Sad
-
Name tag too. Employee of the month? Probably not...
Could have been working/ living over there at the time? I guess none of us will ever know!
-
Nice spot tallpaul, looks like the name tag has been darkened.
-
The thread title is then justified! How much of a rogue is 'Michelle'? lol
-
Mmmm... I knew something wasn't right about that whole thing.
I can't begin to imagine what darkness awaited the curry participants.
-
Chicken Korma... from Iceland... :-x
-
lol
Luckily I don't eat the stuff
-
I'm thinking less curry, more tied up in a basement being used as sex slaves for big fat g.uys called Bubba.
-
Pulp fiction style! I'm not wearing a ball gag. Not after the last time...
-
My other half has just showed me that if you right click an image you can search google for it.
We found the picture here from 2005, hooters girl apparently.
http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/general-bike-related-topics/21321-vegas-ride-pics.html#post368357
** EDIT **
Doh, late to the party.
-
*sound of penny dropping*
Well that's what I did, I smelt a rat (pun intended) and googled the suspiciously hot image.
Bluesboy.
-
Could it be that someone else had found it and PM'ed her about it?
She could've been found out and she blamed people for 'inappropriate' pms. Not saying the picture is not her. It could very well be so let's not be too judgemental.
-
I smelt a Rat early on and didn't take part in any threads where I'd be directly talking to 'her?'.
-
Prof, cropping a U.S. 'Busa forum pic, blacking out the Hooters badge and presenting it as yourself invites heavy speculation.
-
+1 jacko , I kept out the threads too. I thought the curry night was very strange.
-
:occasion-balloons:
+1 jacko , I kept out the threads too. I thought the curry night was very strange.
Especially the house special Rohypnol curry......that would have been *very* strange indeed.....
-
Must have got the recipe from me ... It was my speciality in the day :shy:
-
Allegedly...
-
Wait till I offer you home brew .... tou won't say allegedly then lol
-
In her profile she does say 'some modelling'. Also on the 'busa site, the name tag is already blacked out anyway. If she did do some modelling, it is possible that she did receive some dodgy pms
Incidentally she does visit the forums as her last visit was on the 19th, a week ago. Let's not be too harsh
-
I'm an alcohol free zone, Holmsey! No anal hangovers for me! lol
I do hope Mich was the real McCoy. I don't like feeling as though I've been conned. I still can't reconcile her profile pic and the hayabusas lass as being the same person.
-
What I have will still go in tea mate .... I'll bring a new meaning to dirty camping if we ever went on a road trip lol
-
Oh aye, is that what "wild camping" is? lol
-
lol
-
Is it a bad thing that I could tell from zooming in to see the name badge existed that her top was uniform for a certain entertainment establishment mentioned earlier.
I didn't have to do any google searching. :shy: (gigady)
Does make you think whether michelle was exactly what she claimed to be.
I don't think she was a woman... when was the last time you insulted a woman about the way she looked or acted and didn't get kicked in the nuts. The leaving post was far to eloquent for a hurt woman with not enough swear words and no screaming.
-
But blokes don't do flouncy leaving posts, they just bugger off.
-
Pulp fiction style! I'm not wearing a ball gag. Not after the last time...
Jaw cramp, right?
-
Ah, the understanding of one who knows! lol
-
I really must attend an ST meet in the future .... sounds fun .... I'll bring the masks and custard :thumb:
-
Seeing as this is supposed to be a thread for "Posting photos of yourself" I am going to lock it for a few days so we can get back on track.
Sorry if I am spoiling all your fun!
:neen:
-
OK, shall we get back to normal please ! Mr Bigpie wants to put a mug-shot up first.

Moi after my 10k run.
-
Bless.
Hero.
-
:thumb:
-
With a name like bigpie I was expecting something different :) Although the 10k run should have given a clue haha
-
Bigpie, head of the household and father to a littlepie and not waist size bigpie, though I do like a good meat and tatty pie :D
-
Well done bigpie! If that was a photo of me after a 10k race it would have been taken inside of the intensive care unit at Oldham hospital! Much respect! :)
-
Sitting here idly browsing the forum I stumbled on the Michelle thing. Must say I find it difficult to understand why anyone would want, or be bothered to pretend to be someone else. Feel a bit of a mug now, having posted a sympathetic message when "she" left.
-
ajduggie - Never feel bad about having been nice.
Now that "trolling" has replaced "sarcasm" as the lowest form of wit.
-
I still say we should give her the benefit of doubt. She did say she was in America; she did say she did part time modelling so it could very well have been her. Maybe someone came across that photo and started sending questionable pm's.
-
I sense another lock coming on...
I'd post a pic of myself but I'd scare you all off :neen:

-
I still say we should give her the benefit of doubt.
Nope, I can confirm that he/she was a fraud.
-
Gives them something to hold on to.
-
Nope, I can confirm that he/she was a fraud.
Excellent, as suspected. Care to share any evidence for the Sherlock's amongst us? :)
-
No, let's not give the attention seeking weirdo the satisfaction, all of his posts are deleted :)
-
His...? Nice tits for a bloke! lol
-
Back on topic, please :GRR:

If you want the thread back on track stick a pic up Juv

Congrats on passing. ..... wait until you have been married for 25 years like me .... she encourages me to go out and get out of her way.
Funny how we always have loads of milk in the fridge.

Here's the most recent picture I have of me with a bike, back in 2010 when I had a naked Pan European. I did try to improve the looks subsequently (the bike that is, not me, I'm too far gone). The occasion was a GBBikers weekend in mid-Wales.

Found this on google images, apologies if it's yours but I'm not a fan... guess they were trying to make a DR Dakar replica. :icon_no:

I'll bet the SMIDSY's still wouldn't see it!

The first abomination I believe is American, that image has been around years and hurts my eyes every time I see it.

If you have trouble loading the pictures using this method it is probably because your file is too big. Make it smaller & try again. :)

Your attachments are 0 bytes in size. Where are you uploading from, are you perhaps uploading a shortcut rather than the image?
-
@ Landsurfer, check my post #358 above. It's got a link to an earlier post about downloading photos. :)

Maybe he's invisible?

I think you'll find that Invisible men wear raincoats, dark glasses and a hat.
-
Me and my henchman ... not in Selby and not soaked ...

While looking for a picture of some thing else I came across these pictures of me about 38 years ago doing manly things at a fair old height. Poor quality I know but you get the gist. Pic 1 is me looking up at my then apprentice & now Maintenance Manger at NPG, pic 2 is me recovering an errant Stockbridge damper from mid span on a 132kV tower and 3 & 4 are of the S10.
Note, very little safety equipment about in those days...and none the worse for it really. You looked after each other and paid attention. Oh, and spurrred on by Up't Norths picture me on my Yam' Superten on the Stelvio Pass grinding the LHS footpeg down a bit.
-
I resemble that remark.
Gawd, that was seven years ago, although I have been over since.
-
I think it was 2016 the last time I was over the Stelvio Pass. We came back over the Umbrail Pass if I remeber correctly which was quite impressive too. The feller from Foto Stelvio must make a few quid...
