2013 Vstrom new GPR fitted
« on: June 21, 2013, 17:33:29 »
Fitted the Italian GPR stainless exhaust system, the factory one weighs 17.5 kilos the new one 10 kilos, so quite a difference in weight. The system came from Italy nicely boxed with all the components in snazzy black cloth bags, fitting was very easy I loosened the front header pipe to assist removal. I also removed the rear foot peg and then the 02 sensor, all the guards were then removed.
The old and the new

Nice sound, and not expensive either. What's your thoughts on the rearmost bracket, and does it need the fueling tweaking?

Sounds good. Any chance of a few pics from different angles showing it mounted?

Hello I got it from E Bay for £299 the link is below
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-DL-650 ... 257334e92f
I didn't have any issues with the brackets or the hanger so far so good. Delivery was just over a week from Italy I actually spoke with the UK distributor before ordering he was very helpful.

I see you have a centre stand fitted, which was going to be the next question. :)

I take it come m.o.t time its a quick swap back to the original for the day then the new one is back on for 12 months.  In other words does the m.o.t test need the bike to be fitted with the catalytic converter to pass. Looks nice,  I want something a little gruntier sounding on mine too.

It won't make any difference to the mot. Bikes don't have a emissions test.

And as far as I know they don't do Db test either (though Strom exhausts should be quiet enough with a baffle in anyway.) As long as the exhaust doesn't show "Not for road use" or "only for race use" then you're fine. I've even heard people that do have exhausts like that put some tape over it, apparently MOT testers aren't allowed to remove anything to check for these markings.

ps. Lovely looking and sounding exhaust :thumb:

That is true Juv friend has non road leagal ones on his busa. He asked the mot tester before he took it in they told him if it happened to have had the not for road legal bit removed or covered there was nothing they could do.He taped over his mot passed.

Took it out today did 50 miles it really sounds nice not too loud & no difference in fuel consumption so far, it is a road legal system so no issues with MOT in 3 years time. I will try to post a video of me riding it so you can get an idea of it being ridden. :)
Just got my insurance renewal through £120 fully comp with Hastings a bargain compared to the VFR 800 vtec.

Well I took the plunge.
Ordered one using the EBay link above.Turns out the Ebay shop is also Moto Legends (UK distributor for GPR).A tracking number was given and I was expecting to wait 10 days or so. Went to work the following day and even before I tried tracking the parcel it turned up at 9am which was a pleasant surprise. This meant I could tackle the job on Friday evening.  Josh came to assist.  Took all the exhaust trimmings and foot pegs off before removing the stock exhaust. Removal of the front pipe made this job easier. I unpacked the new GPR, it was well packaged with any delicate part also coming in snazzy fabric drawstring bags. The new exhaust went on bit by bit. Last piece was to reinstall the Lambda sensor. Euston we have a problem !. The threaded boss in the new pipe was much too big. A little head scratching occurred as we thought we had lost an adapter or such like.  It turns out I had accidently been sent the Wee system instead if the Glee system. Both systems are identical other than the pipe with the sensor boss. I sent an email to Moto Legends at 6 o'clock Saturday Morning letting them know I would be getting in touch. I had a reply from the M.D of the company by 8am the same morning  saying he had worked out what  had gone wrong and would I like to ring him.  Very nice chap indeed who apologised and was going to send me the part I require by Tuesday.  All in all it could have gone better but id still give it a 10/10.
Just waiting for  the final part so I can fire her up.
