Blue tooth headset
« on: July 22, 2019, 18:11:22 »
I currently have a Tcom bluetooth headset and although it works its far too quiet, at speed is as good as useless, I have a shark helmet that has the cut outs for the speakers to sit in so are in the correct place but it was the same in my HJC.

problem is not the bike or wind noise as even on my K1100LT that has a massive fairing I have the same issue

can anyone recommend a decent or at least a headset I can hear that will not completely break the bank.

I use the cardo freecom 2 great for music, satnav and talking on phone or passenger but you would need the 4 I think if its for bike to bike

I like the look of the cardo freecom, the price of the first set is great but my only concern was my last set was at the cheaper end and not great, Holmsey do you play music or just calls and satnav

is the cardo Freecom load enough at normal speeds, up to 70mph

Like Holmsey says everything through it, good volume and the working range is brilliant, he has to go quick to try and catch up, he's getting better though  :stirpot:

I've gone for the cheaper Holmsey recommended eBay special. Been listening to audiobooks on my tcom and at national speed limits the wind noise in my GT Air makes it difficult to hear.

Happy with the Scala, have hit 3 figures and can still hear with no issues.

I've gone for the Scala as well, first ride this morning.

We shall see.

Or hopefully hear. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I can report I was able to hear with absolute clarity whilst wearing ear plugs, at motorway speeds whilst riding a Thunderbastard. I started off listening to radio old person via the built in RDS radio and then via witchcraft (bluetooth) more old person's music, Elbow.

My Shark helmet certainly isn't the quietest, the de-catted and baffle less Arrow system does bark a little. :)

What about conversating with other riders, or is that a few sections further on in the manual?

No f*cker would talk to me. :bawl:

It does have the function if required and if the operator is popular enough. :shy:

My old scala rider works a treat and much to everyone's relief I cut the microphone off as it was always in the way.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

I can confirm that the v6 is still not loud enough. It's better than the t-com, but with earplugs and wind noise/buffeting I struggle to hear at 70mph

I'm also after a half decent set that I can speak to the Mrs on but I want it to prompt me when Sat Nav wants to give me directions. First time using comes and Sat Nav on the bike next week (going touring together, what could possibly go wrong!!) Any advice greatly appreciates

I have fitted several BT headsets and most, benefit from moving the earphone closer to the ear, some mount a distance away from your ear 'ole.Try playing music etc through the BT while adjusting the position of the earphone to your ear, until you find the sweet spot. Some digging of the liner may be required, and packing the earphone so it fits closer to the ear was a great help on one of my helmets. Adhesive Backed Velcro works well to pack out the earpiece.

Not blue tooth but I have to say the old Autocoms are the dogs, I've only used on rider - pillion but they really are excellent and never run out of battery power  :lala: a concern for us as do a lot of two-up multi day riding.

Just have remember when getting off bike  :angry-banghead:

Though blue tooth has improved I'm not sure it's ideal for us

Have a look on your phone during a call whilst operating the volume control on your headset.  Does the phone volume rise too?  If not try raising the volume on your phone too during a call.

Yeah I've turned the volume up max on the headset and the phone. It depends on how windy it is, on a calm day I can just hear it at 70mph, if there's any form of cross wind then I struggle at 60mph
