CyMarc gear enhancer
« on: October 18, 2018, 00:34:36 »
One of the annoying things about my 2017 Vee is the very clunky gear change, especially 1st to 2nd. I read somewhere that this was due, in part, to a 2mm misalignment between the front and rear sprokets. Something the engineers at Suzuki seem to over look every time they up grade the Strom.
So I invested in one of CyMarc's gear enhancer. basically a 2mm spacer that fits between th rear sprocket and the hub. Nicely made bit of kit. Whilst fitting it I was a bit sceptical. But the differance is amazing. Changing gear is so much smoother.
Well worth the money, as smoother changes has got to help preserve the gearbox.

I can confirm it works a treat on my 2018 1000xt.
In my defence, she did leave me unsupervised.

I wondered if one off these would really  work, so when I changed the sprockets last week I fitted some 10mm, 2mm thick washers  between the sprocket and the hub, low and behold the gear change is much smoother!  I've  to fit a new tyre soon so I'll get the real thing then,  now I know it works.

I’m intrigued by this as the late great greywolf was adamant this shouldn’t work as it actually compounded the error rather than fixing it. Despite this report after report seems to suggest it works rather well !

I can also confirm that the gear change enhancer made a noticeable difference to how smooth gear changes are but the crunchy feeling between 1st and 2nd doesn't completely disappear though.
