Odometer not working.
« on: March 26, 2024, 19:22:00 »
I went out to clean my DL650A 2012 today but first I started the bike to move it closer to the hose. I noticed that the speedometer, rev counter and trip meter is working but the mileometer is not? I have tried to reset with the button (rubber) on the dash but it doesn't bring up the total mileage though it did reset the trip back to zero.

Has anybody ever suffered this fault and how did you deal with it please?

Fortunately I have a good idea of the mileage because it was working for it's MOT last month.  :thumb:

What exactly is it showing on the display where the mileage should be?
As you toggle through, you've got total mileage, two trip settings each with a MPG trip. The other markings on the mileage bar as you toggle through are a number of '0' which are the brightness of the display.

Thank you Mick.  :thumb:  I've had the 650 for a few years now and have toggled through a few times in the past. There is nothing where the millage should be. I have the trip and the clock but that seems to be about it. I can't help think that the MOT tester has done something with it?

Before I owned the bike it was tested once with kilometres showing on the clock and that was recorded as miles on the MOT certificate.

We are forecast rain for the rest of the week and weekend but on the next dry day I'll take the dash off and have a look at it.

There's a connector on the clutch side behind the triangle part of the frame that connects the speed sensor near the front sprocket. I'd start with that first.
I once got my bike back from a dealership with the speedo not working - they hadn't plugged that in. If the sensor has gone, they're a common part across lots of Suzuki's and you can get them quite cheap on ebay.

Thank you for the above. I will check that the next time we have a dry day.  :thumb:

If it is that someone did change a setting, I wonder whether is not perhaps the same or similar to that discussed in https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/odometer-blank-rest-of-cluster-working.442120/ ?
