Looking a tent small enough to take on the Veek (two up) but big enough to stannd up in as we both have bad backs! Mad I know but the B&B's have just got to expensive. Any recommendations. Hopefully not to expensive to.

Stand-up tents are bulky and heavy, where will you pack it? Are you leaving the top box off and carrying your ~~shi~~ essential items in the side cases?

Yeah I'll use the panniers for clothing, tank bag for waterproofs and strap the tent, airbed and sleepin bags on the rack where top box usually sits. Put the wife on the back and if I can lift the bike of the side stand we're away!

Vango Turini 200 or the newer version (now it's blue) Tour 200.

I'm 6ft and can just about stand up. 2 man tent with 'garage' you can sit around in and stow your gear in.

Plus 1 for the vango turini 200. Lighter by a few kilos than the newer blue tour 200. Good tent for base camping.

I have a B&q tent they do a 4 man tent with two bedrooms, and is about 6 foot 2 in the middle and 15kg. for £95.44

Apparently this tent is supposed to be very good. A few on the Shadow Crew and HSOCUK are raving about them.

Vango Omega 350, not quite standing upright but nearly. 5kg.

I've just spent a week in that Omega 350. Only 4 feet tall at the very highest inside. No good for what Porter wants.

Worse thing about the omega 350 that I bought two years ago is the groundsheets are porous and everything got damp.

+1 for crap groundsheets. Thinner, lighter and less waterproof than they ever were. Also the "bloke"

ropes fray at an alarming rate.

Yes I bought an Omega footprint which goes underneath to prevent punctures and any dampness. I also always Fabsil before using for the first time. Works a treat. Yet to find a walk in tent that is suitable for motorcycle touring.

Height apart how a tent performs (barring add ons) is often down to the choice of pitch and user error.

I agree Brockett but I wanted space and a lightweight tent for beer money it seems you cannot have it all. The built in groundsheet is very thin thankfully a few forums warned of this and to get a footprint. Tempted by the Turini/Tour though...

I agree. It's a good tent. The big issue is fitting it on the bike with the misses on the back.

I tend to use my rear seat and a webbing net to carry it.

It fits nicely in my Givi V47 topbox along with a few other bits.
It won't fit in my old Suzuki (SOFT branded) topbox left over from my Wee.
We bought the mrs another v47 for her bike so either of us can carry it.
