'bloke'
« on: June 01, 2014, 14:07:23 »
Hi,

In personal messages and posts, mentions of my name seem to get automatically replaced with the word 'bloke' or 'blokes' when I hit submit, which kind of makes me look a bit weird if I sign everything "bloke".

This also happens in links if the same word is part of the link, breaking the links which is probably a bit confusing for the recipient.

I wondered if maybe whatever is doing this is designed to stop swear words and was being little too overenthusiastic. Is it possible the word g-u-y (without dashes) could be whitelisted?

Thanks,
bloke <-- I will forever be 'bloke'

This is not a complaint about the site, I just wanted to be someone other than "bloke" :)

We could all be renamed to Bruce, having different names just causes confusion...

Contact the BBC and tell them how much you liked "Sir bloke of Gisborne".
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

This probably shouldn't happen, right? I'm sure there's millions of potential links with one of the verboten-words out there :)

Maybe the replacement should use phonetics, then Girl Guides could be changed to Girl Blokes.

Just thought of a hilarious April fool for Fat Rat next year. Instead of bloke, replace g-u-y with "lady boy", and some of the other americanisms could receive a similar treatment.

I was using a link to a charity site and my name was part of the url but instead it chopped out the g-u-y and everything after it, so it came out as

Did my 'cool' get changed to 'cold' by the filter, or was it a typo??

Me, make a mistake? Surely not.

In the words of the famous philosopher, Homer, (Simpson), DOH!
