2012 MRA touring?
« on: July 12, 2012, 22:49:08 »
Now then .. I don't mind the standard screen too much but do get some slight buffeting...thinking about the new madstad bracket but of course this means another screen..

Been looking at these for a while now .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MRA-Suzuki-DL650-V-STROM-2012-VARIO-TOURING-WINDSCREEN-Windscreen -SCREEN-L-57845-/200785151065?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2ebfba4459#ht_3954wt_1202

Does anyone think this will be overkill with the new madstad or should it be fine?

Thanks in advance
Josh

new madstad on your bike means old screen (pre 2012 model)- that screen is to go on your current stock mount.

looks nice though.

I'd be tempted to get a new style madstad and have a look at these... Higher wider version

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-DL-650-1000-V-STROM-2005-2011-TALLER-SCREEN-/251095851826?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a767aa332

the seller makes the things and they'll do them in different sizes and tints/clear. For the money you can't argue.

or the standard version

I see Mr diver thanks .. might get the older mra touring one then lol ... I've looked at the larger screen and it doesn't do anything for me but quite like the standard screen ... Cheers :)

I have the 2011 "X" model and I really liked the look of the stock screen. Unfortunately though, at a lowly 5'7" I suffered badly from buffeting and wind noise generally. I first put a Madstad on and, although there was a bit of an improvement, I still couldn't cope without earplugs. I've just put the MRA Vario-touring on [as well as leaving the Madstad on] and it's a revelation.  I can now run it up to 70-80mph without plugs. Excellent! The only down-side is the look. The MRA isn't the most aesthetically pleasing farkle you can put on but Hello, the bike is my all-weather, any time ride, so looks are less important than max comfort. I haven't put the MRA on without the Madstad, so I can't vouch for the end result on the stock fittings.

Cheers, Steve

I fitted the Suzuki vario on my new 2012 wee today. I am 5'6" and find it an improvement. Hope this helps.

the Trekkr 52 is massive- he could almost fit his mrs in there on ST4, but her arm kept sticking out.  :shy:

I've got a madstad and would highly recommend it. not just for the fact it solves the buffeting on the older wee I have but that if the weather changes and I want to raise/lower the screen I haven't got to spend 20 mins messing around with my tool kit to adjust the height.

but I do think the old screens on the new bike may look a bit odd, but then again maybe a message to the men at Slipscreen will sort out a new style shape with the old mount points!

but then again the old screen on a Glee might distract you from noticing it has eyelashes!
