New 1050XT Arrived !
« on: October 16, 2020, 12:50:34 »
Traded in my 2017 DL650 for a brand spanking new orange/white 1050XT with the Suzuki heated grips.

Very happy bunny !

Old bike was very good, but I wanted a bit more oomph. Tried the 1000 but missed the top end fizz of the 650 (all power felt low down). The 1050 is different in that it has the top end fix of the 650, and lots of oomph. I also much prefer the new style/colour of the 1050 XT !

Update : Forgot to mention, bought from Crescent Suzuki based in Charminster/Bournemouth. Great deal, really great team there.

Congratulations on your new arrival.

Enjoy. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Nice ..  :thumb:

Needs a top box as it looks out of proportion..

Might be just me but does anyone else think these colours look like the old Marlborough colours of yesteryear ..  :shrug:

@kwackboy @Asmith61

Got a kind of universal (read that as cheap) top box a while back which fitted to my 650, hopefully will fit to the new bike if I need to carry a load of stuff.

Personally, not a big fan of top boxes, prefer the slim side cases/panniers which at least blend in a bit (and no frame). But the Suzuki slim ones are like £800 or so, plus some other bits to buy ! So, if only needing to carry a bit I use a light backpack, if need more capacity I'll temporarily pop on the top box which has a quick enough release :-)

If I ever went touring though, that would change things....

Looking good there Scatz, 1050xt
I took the plunge last month an acquired the 1050A , I went from a 2008 DL1000 to a new model  :auto-dirtbike:   the biggest  difference I've noticed are the brakes, Fantastic!!!
and all the electronics!! havnt run it in yet,  :thumb: I not far off though, hopefully it will be everything I imagine  :lala:
How are you finding it??

@hesky66

I'm enjoying it very much ! 1 week and 200 miles, hoping to get the 600 mile service in before the winter hits.

The engine is really good, I find it really wants to rev, so looking forward to opening the bike up soon. Lots of low down power too. Handles really well, light and flickable for such a heavy machine. Only time I notice weight is when I push it around.

Heated grips are not as good as the Oxford ones I had on my 650. They work OK, but I picked them as they blend in better and you don't have a big square box stuck to the handlebars. It's a shame Suzuki did not merge the electronics into the dash so you can see what level heat you are on, the tiny lights are difficult to read and you have to watch them flash to work out the setting you are on while keeping an eye on the road !

Just ordered Ultimateaddons phone case/mount for the crossrail above the display, that should be fine. Very happy with having a centre stand once again - should have got one fitted to my 650 when I had it.

Only concern I really have is keeping the spoked wheels in good condition. The stories you hear on the forums are worrying. Hopefully Suzuki have learned from previous models and these are good... time will tell !

Yup, the brakes are really good, but then the 650 ones are shockingly bad (to me, maybe I'm used to really good brakes before the 650 on other bikes).

I'd like to get a pair of side cases which slot into the fixings without having to have a frame fitted - but at around £900 for the bits and pieces I'll give that a miss. Blimey their accessories are expensive !!!!  :crazy: So, I'm using a small back-pack when I know I need to pick things up.

Hope you are having great fun getting to know the new bike !!  :auto-dirtbike:

 as it was the City deal it had a rack an 55ltr box, also centre stand as standard, nearly there now,,, 800mls down 200 to go  :grin:
