'Shad' Comfort Seat
« on: January 18, 2020, 13:39:55 »
Does anybody know please, if the 'Shad comfort seat' is an improvement on the original kit? I was thinking maybe a tad lower? It would be for a 2017 DL1000.
Cheers, and a belated Happy New Year...

It is definately better and actually slightly higher by a few mm, due to padding.

Mine felt about the same height as the oe and to me just as uncomfortable, quickly sold on.

Sargent might be a better option.

Thanks for that, I had one on my GTR1400 and was well pleased with it, but the price of the Shad one had a bit of a pull factor...

I now have the Sargent, yes its better than the Shad but I still get sore about the 200 mile mark so not brilliant. I use my wee airhawk on top if doing multi days and find less discomfort in leathers than textiles. Could just be my skinny behind!
I like the Suzuki tall seat best, but its tall, even for a 6 footer, makes the bike awkward when manoeuvring etc. I put it on when I'm solo, not that offen.
I given up now finding a comfortable seat for the Veek. I'm long legged so find the footrests to high and to far forward (lowering plates fitted) which puts all my weight on tail bone area, so sore arse

I've got the Suzuki higher seat and have got used to that. There is a bit of a lip between the pillion and rider seats which is right where I would naturally want go park my back side. I found a site on the South coast which I'm going to take a trip down to during the summer which looks cheapish and good.  Sussexmotorcycles.com. Anyone got any experience with them? Of not ill update if I get my seat done.

Yup, Sussex did my seat. Nice bloke, will tweak it to your spec (I wanted a flatter seat) and a very unusual workshop, go on a warm day if he's doing it while you wait, you'll see why. Cheap & cheerful, nothing fancy.

If you want more options please look up WWW.MOTORBIKE-SEATS.CO.UK, they also did a seat of mine (you have to post it to them). Reasonable price, plenty of fancy on offer.

I currently have a Sargent seat, still not an all day (2-3 hours), maybe one day I'll find one that is :-(
In my defence, she did leave me unsupervised.

There are plenty of custom seat makers out there. I had mine done by Viking seats and you can get it made to your exact spec and cheaper too.
